O'Reilly: 'Some of These Tea Party People Are Nuts'

The National Tea Party convention was held this weekend in Nashville, Tennessee, and has, predictably, been a hot topic on cable news. Tonight Bill O’Reilly took his turn, discussing the third party phenomenon/movement with Fox News pundit Brit Hume and offered a frank and candid assessment on some of the participants of the Tea Party movement. “Some of these tea party people are nuts! They are! They’re crazy!” Read more here.

You know things are screwy when the wingnuts think O'Reilly isn't conservative enough.

It's good news in a way. Any candidate that would pass muster will be so conservative as to be unelectable. Remember Barry Goldwater?

I understand O'Reilly want's BO on his show, but his constant kiss as- way of agreeing with him is sickening to watch! That and his beauty gueen matching line up of screamers instead of serious people speaking on the issues of our day is the reason I rarely watch him anymore. Plus he talks too much and interrupts any serious discussion. He's ruining his own show--talk about nuts!

Bill you're right, because there are a lot of nuts in the Tea Party folks. But there are many more nuts in the liberal movement. And most of us nuts have enough common sense to really know who the nuts are. And common sense will prevail in the end.

YOU DON'T WANT ANYONE KNOWING THAT O'REILLY IS OFFICIALLY A "SELL-OUT" AND THAT FOX IS HEADING THAT WAY THEMSELVES? SO HOW MUCH WAS FOX PAID TO CONVERT? AND IT'S NOT JUST O'REILLY. I NOTICED ON FOX & FRIENDS A FEW MORNINGS AGO HOW THEY BLASTED THE GUEST (FEMALE) JUDGE (WHO KNOWS THE LAW) OVER CIVILIAN -VS- MILITARY TRIBUNALS FOR TERRORISTS. FOR A MOMENT THERE I THOUGHT I WAS WATCHING MSNBC. YEPPER, WE ARE ALL DEFINITELY ON TO ALL OF YOU FOR TURNING YOUR BACKS ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA - ALL "SELL-OUT". It is a sad, sick day in the United States when people are ridiculed and called names because they want less taxes, government control, and more jobs.

Third Party Now

Last weekend, at the right wing Constitutional Coalition’s annual conference in St. Louis, Joseph Farah, publisher of the far right WorldNetDaily, blasted Fox News for its relationship with Alwaleed. Farah noted correctly that Alwaleed had boasted in the past about forcing Fox News to change its content relating to its coverage of riots in Paris, and warned that such foreign ownership of American media is “really dangerous.” ThinkProgress attended the speech, and observed attendees of the conference murmuring and shaking their heads in disapproval:
FARAH: There’s a flaw, a real compromise in Fox that you need to understand. And if you care about national security, you especially need to be attentive to it. And that is that Fox News parent company is News Corp has a significant ownership by a Saudi prince that many of you will be familiar with because right after 9/11 this prince very famously offered Rudolph Giuliani a big multi-million dollar check to rebuild and Giuliani told him to stick the check where the sun don’t shine because this guy was basically blaming America for what happened on 9/11. Well this guy owns a very significant percentage of the News Corp and has let the world know that he can get things taken off Fox News when he finds them objectionable and has in the past. And I really believe this is really dangerous for America.

Why is Palin and the Tea Party the target of all kinds of attacks & criticisms ? Is it because she is now a serious threat to the liberals because of her conservative views and large following by many middle class Americans who are expressing their concern of our country's dangerous direction. These are the people that make up the Tea Party members. O'Reilly's comment should have been expanded to include members of both Democrat & Republican political parties having there share of kooks & nuts as well.

You however have swallowed the bait hook-line-and-sinker. We the People are not ten percent kooks. The ten per cent kooks are all on the other side, and they are running our Country. We want our Country back, we want conservative policies, low debt, low taxes, and obama's face off tv. I am sick in my soul over this progressive movie star. I find myself watching O'Reilly less and less. I used to have a lot of respect for him, but he has wussied up lately. I get tired of him bragging about himself constantly. I know he went to Harvard. He doesn't need to constantly remind us. The more people I meet who went to Harvard, the less respect I have for the institution. I believe O'Reilly is jealous of Glenn Beck's popularity. More people should watch Glenn. He's funny and he has a lot of good information to share about the founding of this country, the Constitution, and the history of Progressivism. If given a choice of only watching one of these shows, I'd choose Glenn Beck over Bill O'Reilly any day. Progressives don't attack O'Reilly as much as they attack Glenn. That tell's me that Glenn is spot on and Bill is rapidly moving in their direction.

Unless we start seeing cars burning, store windows broken, and hundreds of arrests, he shouldn't presume to have a % of tea party goers labeled that way. I haven't seen anyone act out of line, get disrespectful. Holding a sign with a message in bad taste doesn't make someone crazy. Hannity has remained the same person, he has no personal agenda.

OReilly is ok about 75% of the time - but he should make himself clear when he states percentages about kooks in the tea party movement! I have attended some of these meetings and most participants are intelligent, concerned and very articulate about what's happening to our country! O'Reilly joined up with Beck because Beck is sincere, intelligent, and does his homework. I have learned more about history and our country from Beck's program! He is able to connect to the American people because of his passion and OReilly wants to be associated with that!
