Santa = Swastika? War On Christmas Begins In Massachusetts
CHELMSFORD - After meeting with members of the Byam Elementary School PTO, two mothers asking to put the holidays back into the school's annual holiday gift shop say Byam isn't budging.
Kathryn McMillan and Kathleen Cullen, who both have children at Byam, asked school officials to allow all holiday items at the gift shop following a ban on Santa, candy canes, stockings, and all Christmas, Hanukkah and other "religious items."
But a meeting with some PTO parents on Thursday night grew heated as emotions got in the way.
Red and green tissue paper to wrap presents was also crossed off the list because it looked too "Christmasy," McMillan said.
"One of the parents said, 'If we allow Santa, what do we say if a child brings in a swastika? Do we allow that too?' " McMillan said. "All I could think of was, are you kidding? You're comparing a Christmas ornament to a swastika? It seems as if reason is lost somewhere and I just hope we can find it again."

While I am not a particularly religious person, I respect the religious beliefs of others, providing they don't infringe on the health and well being of others. Your comment is intolerant and pompous. If religion gives comfort and solace to some people, then it is real. Don't take away the dreams and beliefs that make people feel whole. There was a much better time than the 21st century. There was a time when people loved and respected each other, when honor and freedom were real and government corruption was at a minimum. It is from family that a child first learns values. Parents have 1/2 decade to teach their children before they go to school. Just see to it that the school does not discriminate by making sure that they prohibit ALL inferences of ALL holidays (disallowing colors/symbols/etc). Hold them to accurate teaching of education subjects only. Then, if you wish, have a great big Christmas celebration at your house and invite your child's school mates. Maintain family traditions; the children will always remember them. May everyone have a Blessed, Happy, Holy, Merry, Wonderful Christmas :)

I was around during the second world war and i do not rerember ever seeing an Santa Claus holding a swastika or saying "Seig heil", or saluting Hitler. They all held children on their laps and sked them what the wanted for Christmas and gave them a candy cane. devery child came away happy and smiling because they got to sit on Sant'as lap and tell him what they wanted and isn't that what Santa is about?
