Santa = Swastika? War On Christmas Begins In Massachusetts

CHELMSFORD - After meeting with members of the Byam Elementary School PTO, two mothers asking to put the holidays back into the school's annual holiday gift shop say Byam isn't budging.

Kathryn McMillan and Kathleen Cullen, who both have children at Byam, asked school officials to allow all holiday items at the gift shop following a ban on Santa, candy canes, stockings, and all Christmas, Hanukkah and other "religious items."

But a meeting with some PTO parents on Thursday night grew heated as emotions got in the way.

Red and green tissue paper to wrap presents was also crossed off the list because it looked too "Christmasy," McMillan said.

"One of the parents said, 'If we allow Santa, what do we say if a child brings in a swastika? Do we allow that too?' " McMillan said. "All I could think of was, are you kidding? You're comparing a Christmas ornament to a swastika? It seems as if reason is lost somewhere and I just hope we can find it again."

Right? just one school, you know what, that is how I found out about the obama hymn. I learned that the school my daughters are attending are being indoctrinated and before I knew it, it was already rampant and everywhere

No offense, but I bet the plutocrats running the show think this is a good thing. If you take the Christ out of Christmas, you can get EVERYONE buying and, let's not kid ourselves, our country is run by the people with money in order to increase the amount of money they possess. Merry Chri$tma$!

I don't shop for Christmas at Target. Ever. Two years ago, BJ's started with the "holiday" cards and "holiday" trees. I quit shopping there for Christmas. I decided that since it was Christmas decorations and Christmas presents I was buying to celebrate Christ's birthday mass, I should buy them from stores which aren't trying to make a buck by denegrating Christ. If stores hate Christians so much, perhaps they shouldn't participate in the celebration.

No PUBLIC displays of Christ at Christmas time. No support for a PUBLIC option in the healthcare bill. How badly do you libs want your PUBLIC option?? If you remove Christ from the PUBLIC square at Christmas time......then don't try and use His name to get Christians to support your PUBLIC option . The choice is up to you.

This is happening in Massachusetts? No surprise to me! What do you expect from a state that kept electing Ted (Is it Happy Hour yet) Kennedy and keeps electing John (Ho Chi) Kerry to the Senate? All other institutions that have made this nation great are under assault by the left in Dem strongholds, who in their right mind would have ever thought Christmas would be immune?

In these days of Political Correctness, all signs of faith and Christianity are being challenged. But remember the old saying -- The squeaky wheel gets the grease " ? WE can become the squeaky wheels by standing up for our observations of faith. Don't let anyone take CHRISTMAS from our lives, just don't let it happen !! Remind everyone --Jesus IS the reason for the season !! We celebrate his birth with Christmas.
CHRISTMAS WITH A CAPITAL ' C' --

Whatever happened to Jesus is the reason for the season? It is a Christian holiday that gained national recognition. So let it be. I don't know anyone who could honestly say a manger scene somehow is subverting the youth of America and do it with a straight face.
Maybe we should have swatiska day? Where instead of Christmas ornaments we have swatiskas hanging from the tree, and scenes of Hitler resting comfortably in his bunker. The same nut jobs would rather put a crucifix in a jar of urine and call it art on display but won't acknowledge a day celebrated by the overwhelming majority of Americans.

What's the point of having a holiday annual gift shop if you refuse to acknowledge the reason for the holiday? Why holiday? What holiday? For some - Christmas, for some - Hanukkah, for others - Islam. It really doesn't matter what religion each person is if any at all. The school is trying to have it both ways - a gift shop with no reason for a gift shop.

Not sure if anyone actually read that article or not - but its ONE school in the county that has adopted the 'no religious items' theme.. its no "war on Christmas" at all. They are simply not allowing any holiday themed items at all -this includes Christmas, Hanukkah, pictures of the baby jesus, etc..

So, yeah not just baby Jesus pictures. Further more, this sort of thing is happening every where. Creches being removed, religious symbols of Christianity of any type being removed from all public places. Seems to me that all of this ardent religion bashing, and using the courts to get it done violates the first amendment, by establishing Atheism as the only acceptable religion in this country.
And don't go thinking I have a bone to pick, I'm Agnostic. And I have never been harmed or troubled by Santa, Jesus, a menorah, some one saying a prayer, and least of all, the prospect of coming into personal contact with red and green tissue paper.

In 1957 the Soviet Union and other Communist regimes banned overtly religious Christmas observances.. When people say that we are working towards a socialist way of thinking is just smoke and stupidity but to say that green and red tissue paper looked too "Christmasy," is going even further than the Soviet Union did in 1957.
I have noticed that of all the holidays that fall during this time of year it is Christmas that gets the brunt of that attack. I mean I have never heard an argument that a Hanukkah Menorah is to be call a Holiday Candle Holder. Ramadan is many days of Fasting and praying for guidance, Its a very big time of year for them it's in honor when Mohammed received the Qir'an from Allah. They do not partake in excess during Ramadan so I don't they they will be at Best Buy getting a Flat Screen for the season to put under their Holiday tree.
Kwanzaa.. I won't personally comment on this holiday but refer to what my college Prof (who is black) said about it. "It's a stupid made up holiday . It is further self segregating, I am not African, I am not African-American, I am American. "
But if you want to keep crying that Christmas is to Christmasy there is always National Whiners Day on Dec. 26.

Christians squeal like stuck pigs when someone practices intolerence to their religion. The school being a government institution is obligated to be all inclusive and I am sure that the Christians complained roundly when the school hung Hanakka, Kwanza or Ramadan decorations. Your intolerence has led to none of these children being allowed to celebrate their religeous holidays at the school.

This is just stupid and they are going over the top. They won't sell red and green tissue paper because it is too christmasy. They are just colors every color can probably be associtaed with something that might cause controversy. For example you can't use the color pink because it is to sexist and can't normally be given to boys. You can't use the color blue because it is the color of the ocean and some people are afraid of water.

I plan to go to Old Navy, a store not allowed to recognize Merry Christmas, put my purchases on the counter and wish the clerk a Merry Christmas. If she does not respond in kind, I will advise her I will not purchase the items and then will tell the store manager that they can keep their merchandise. They want the sales, the $$$, but they can't say Christmas? If it wasn't for Christmas, you better believe they'd be in deep trouble. Everyone should do the same thing. Don't support any store that doesn't recognize the season for what it is...CHRISTMAS...I'm sick of the whole thing and all the PC people. A few non-believers have taken away all of our rights to celebrate. It's time to stand up folks - to your Towns, Villages, Cities, schools and Federal government. Even the WH won't have Christmas trees - they're to be called Holiday trees w/no religious ornaments. How pathetic is that?
