Noonan: Obama and Voters Tuning Each Other Out
First thought on Tuesday's elections: There's a lot of firing going on in America, and now that includes politicians. Seems only fair and will likely continue. I don't think voters in New Jersey and Virginia were saying, "Oh the Democrats are awful, and we hate them," nor were they saying, "Republicans are wonderful, and we love them." The voters were being practical, and thinking policy: "Will he raise my taxes?" In Jersey, they fired the incumbent governor because they couldn't imagine the state getting off its current trajectory (high unemployment, high taxes, high spending) with him there. And they're certain they have to get off their current trajectory or they're sunk.
Both states hired new governors. The good news for the GOP is that they hired Republicans. The bad news is that if the Republicans don't make progress, they'll fire them too.
Second, it's too simple to say this was a vote against Obama. Yes, he went to Jersey three times and draped himself like a shawl around the Democratic incumbent. But the crowds showed and nobody booed and everyone had a good time. What happened actually is more interesting. They just didn't listen to him. Mr. Obama told Jersey to vote for Jon Corzine, and they didn't. They don't hate him, they're just not hearing him. That's new. They're warning him: Hey you with the health-care obsession, shape up or you'll get shipped out!

Obama and the Democrats will be voted out...because their economic policies have never worked ANYWHERE.
At the end of 2007...unemployment was 4.9%. That is eseentially full employment as there is always someone between jobs in a capitalist system. This was after Bush inherited a recession from Clinton, the fallout of 9/11 and two wars.
It was Democrat policies passed over the years and then spiked by the too easy credit of the Fed and terrible Bank de-regulaiton that Clinton signed into law that led to the real estate bubble...and its bust and the fallout.
Too Americans (such as you jojo) don't understand the actual nature of economics...but they do understand when they don't have a job or fear for the one they have.
Thus...the Democrats will be thrown out...once again. Just as they deserve to be.

All Global Warming is, is a THEORY. Yes...THEORY. Fact: Global Warming caused by CO2 was modeled...computer modeled...based on ASSUMPTIONS. All scientists produce models, climate models, magnetism affect models, tectonic models, etc. Models are nothing but mathematical PREDICTIONS. Then they go and begin collecting empirical data and they then create a new model based on that model and that then becomes fact, fact that they can then go and publish in one of their industry journals. They don't publish predicted models as facts. They would be laughing stocks. Empirical evidence trumps model predictions in every sense of the word trump, except for The Donald. So, when the world's preeminent climatologist/meteorologist, who happens to be at MIT, comes out with 20 years worth ---TWENTY---of empirical data and shows that the models were totally bunk, the scientific community is going to take note. And that's what's happening. They cannot refute all of the empirical data. This UN body recognizes that the jig is probably up and they are going to postpone until when????....after next year's elections. They're waiting to see which way the Global Warming winds are blowing. Global Warming is on the most endangered species list now.

I thought this was a brilliant move for the Conservative, Constitution-loving people of this country. We told them "NO!" ,we won't vote for your liberal agenda and your crooked politicians. The elected officials who spoke on the steps of the capitol building, were very clear, concise and passionate about their purpose......to represent the PEOPLE! Not one more step toward SOCIALISM!

I think it was a bit stronger than your observations, Ms. Noonan - But I do agree with one thing: The voters have definately tuned BOwad out, but HE has NEVER been tuned into them! The dem defense that it was really "local politics", and had nothing to do with nationalism, is bull! A staggering ecomonomy and unemployment is a NATIONAL problem, and not simply LOCAL! Every state but one is suffering the SAME woes, added to by an IMPOTENT DC administration!
