Labor Unions Look to Take Down Tea Parties
Organized labor may be putting their dollars behind an online effort to take down Tea Party groups and their "radical ideas."
A new Web site, TheTeaPartyIsOver.org, has connections to unions, including the Service Employees International Union and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
The American Public Policy Committee pays for the site, whose self-declared mission is to "prevent the Tea Party's dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction."
According to Opensecrets.org, the top two financial backers of the American Public Policy Committee this year are Patriot Majority West and Patriot Majority, largely funded by union dollars.
During the 2008 election cycle, the AFSCME contributed $5.8 million and the SEIU donated $770,000 to Patriot Majority. Teamsters Union also donated $250,000, United Food & Commercial Workers Union gave $125,000 and the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO donated $6,500 to the group.
Attempts to contact the American Public Policy Committee and Patriot Majority were not successful.

It is interesting to see who the unions have backed intheir campaigns. It is Pelosi, Reid, Franken, Dodd, Franks, and numerous others. Just look up the most liberal members of congress and follow the money of where they got funding. Most of ther money has come from out of their home states (unions a leading contributor) and not their constiuents. The union members should call their leaders on the carpet for wasting the union dues on such things. and for what purpose?

That may sound all well and good, but do you realize most petro-chemical refineries are closed union shops? To be completely effective, you'd have to learn what fuel is managed by each and then quit using that brand. And, some independent gas stations buy whatever is cheapest, so you'd have to track that fuel suplly to determine whether a union shop produced it.

I contacted the site via email and let them know that we are not going to stop voicing our opposition to this administration. We are not going to just go away. And we will not allow more socialism to take over our federal government. We've already compromised too much and allowed Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid to bankrupt our nation. I also hinted that if they care to come into our neighborhoods to cause trouble, we do have guns that our founding fathers so wisely saw as necessary when they passed the second amendment to the constitution. So when they try their 'persuasion of power" that Andy Stern says may be necessary, they will find some opposition to their ideas.

The largest segment of union workers now work for the gov't. Gov't workers do not produce a product or service that is marketable. Only jobs that provide marketable products & services sustain employment and growth for the long term. In addition, the average wage of gov't workers is far greater than the average wage of private sector workers, who provide the tax dollars to pay the higher wages of the gov't worker. It just doesn't make sense.
