Why is unemployment at 10% when Mr. Obama promised it would not go above 8% if the stimulus bill was passed? Why is the Fed issuing T-bills and then buying them back? I reallize progressives live in a fantasy world, so let's do an exercise in real world numbers in order grasp our current situation:
Our national debt is approaching 12.4 Trillion dollars. T-Bills, the debt instrument of the United States pay 4% interest.
The intersest on our debt for one year is calculated as follows:
$12,400,000,000,000 x .04 = $496,000,000,000 (496 Billion)
The interest on our debt for one day is:
$496,000,000,000 / 365 = $1,358,904,109 (1.37 Billion)
The interest on our debt EVERY HOUR is:
$1,358,904,109 / 24 = $56,621,004 (Almost 57 Million)
Keep in mind that we are not paying any of this off, so all this interest continues to be tacked on to our existing debt.
Oh..........the deficit for this year 1.8 Trillion dollars, so you can see how much our spending is exceeding tax revenue. China and other foreign investors are drastically reducing the lending to us, because they see our financial peril.

I am sending this to the White House and the seventeen (among others) who are up for re-election in 2010. What confuses me is why some people blindly follow a political party and not stand with the American people? I have learn that I will pay attention to both parties from now on. It should be about what is good for the country not what is good for a certain politician or political party.
