McCain Risks Losing Senate Seat

John McCain may have been the Republican Party's national standard bearer last year, but now it looks like he may have a hard time just hanging on to his Senate seat.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll of likely 2010 GOP primary voters in Arizona finds the longtime incumbent in a virtual tie with potential challenger, J.D. Hayworth. McCain earns 45% of the vote, while Hayworth picks up 43%.

Another candidate, anti-illegal immigration activist Chris Simcox, is picking up 4%.

Hayworth, 51, a conservative former U.S. congressman who now is a popular radio talk show host in Phoenix, is reportedly interested in the race but has not formally declared for it.

I appreciate all that the McCain family has done in serving the United States both as a navy pilot and as a senator. But you can't stand for conservative principles by trying to compromise and work with the left. It doesn't work, kind of like serving tow masters. You lose in all occasions, I think that if John McCain cannot be a true conservative republican then he should give up his seat.

He gets it now...give him another chance...he may have appeared a bit hesitant in Palin for VP...and I think if he was 100% confident in his choice, they could have won! He deserves to be in the Senate at the very least!

Respectfully, I must disagree with taking McCain out of the senate, today he stood against the Democrats on the Healthcare monstrosity. While we can disagree with McCain on some things, he's the rarest type of person in Washington D.C., he's honest with the American people and nobody here can argue he is corrupt.
Right now I'd say throw the corrupt politicians that sold this country down the river out. He hasn't attacked Palin, and the Governor has a lot of respect for Senator McCain. He has demonstrated that he is respectful to his constituents and demonstrated that he can't be bought by special interests.

Good man, J.D., I thought he got robbed when he lost his congressional seat, but I love the sound of Senator J.D. Hayworth. Something about a good conservative with "Senator" in front of his name just makes me believe there truly is hope for us to get back our freedoms that we have lost over the past 10 months since the Bama, also known as Dufus, took over.

The first thing I would do is make darn sure McCain's opponents are who they say they are. Look into their background. Who are his friends and what has he done before he decided run? I don't ever want to see a foolish choice by voters just because they were mesmerized.

Lady Liberty has been severely neglected! It was our jobs as Americans (WE THE PEOPLE) to protect her; yet we have not lived up to that obligation. Instead we have allowed her to stand alone in the harshest of elements (government) and endure years of weathering and erosion (our freedoms). The time is NOW for the American people to give Lady Liberty the long overdue respect and care she was promised and deserves! It is time for her to receive a complete make-over and a fresh coat of paint (our votes in 2010)!

Who put it in our heads that we work for them; that they are our bosses; that they have the right to boss us around and trampled all over our constitutional freedoms? WE are the ones who put the idea in the minds of congress by putting our lives in their hands for far too long. Time to take it back ... they abuse it, they lose it.

McCain is an honorable man who has served his country well. If all Republicans had been as strong as him and disagreed sometimes with the White House in 2001-2008, the Democrats would never have found it so easy to beat the Republicans in 2008.

Regardless of past glory, deeds or reputation we will all reach a point in our lives of diminished returns. It's like an aging movie star stopping people on the street and asking, "Do you know who I am"? This is where Mc Cain is presently. He needs to quietly fade into the sunset and make room for others.
