Conyers: 'I'm Getting Tired of Saving Obama's Can'
President Barack Obama is "bowing down" to Republicans and corporate interests on health reform, Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) said Thursday.
Conyers, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and a longtime advocate of single-payer healthcare, blasted the president for a perceived weakness in leadership on health reform.
"I'm getting tired of saving Obama's can in the White House," Conyers said on the liberal Bill Press radio show. "He only won by five votes in the House, and this bill wasn't even anything to write home about."

I was born and raised in Detroit. Conyers presides over the most impoverished community in Michigan, and that's saying a lot. Detroit is the model one needs to look at to invision what socialist big government agenda's bring forth. Detroit, more than any other city, has taken part in every single government program...the people in Conyers district don't work and don't want to. All hope for a better life has disappeared, all self reliance left long ago. Detroit is the model which all liberals want for this country. They want a constituency who depends on government for it's every need, after all, when things get as bad as they have been in Detroit for all these years even a block of government cheese looks good. You want big government, you want socialism, move to Detroit...move to Conyers district.

@ Alexandra, I know the odds are about a hundred to one against it, but as a 26 year demo, I know what CAN happen! IF enough demos see they are RISKING their congressional seats, they will throw the BOwipe under a Chi-town style bus, as quick as look at him. I honestly think Conyers is sartting to feel he is involved in an "up-hill battle"! And dem's are not known for their long term endurance! You gotta believe in miracles! The BOwipe won his election, didn't he?!!?

What has all the liberal elected done for me, since I live in Michigan? Let me count the ways! Well it gets us 15.1 percent unemployment also higher taxes, compliments of Governor Granholm. It gets us people to represent us like Carl Levin, Debbie Stabenow and Sander Levin who never listen to their constituents and always do what they want anyway. When you write them a letter with your concerns they send a "canned" response thanking you for your input then proceed to tell you why it's a good idea. It gets us representatives that are so cowardly that they "hid" during the August recess never scheduling a town hall meeting so their constituents could provide them input. When you call their office to make an appointment you are told they are out of the office or on vacation with their family. It gets us representatives that do everything to support the powerful, automotive, state and teachers unions and nothing for the average person. When the governor had to balance the budget instead of going to the state employees and teachers unions and telling them it is about time they started contributing toward their own health care expenses like everyone in the private sector does, they decided to cut the amount of funding per pupil. Of course that is then perceived as causing our children to suffer and how dare the taxpayer allow that? Michigan has led the nation for the last four years in unemployment and I am sure they will continue to do so.
