Town Hall Season: Dems Brace for Another Recess

The last time Congress returned home for an extended break in August, health care reform proponents lost ground that took weeks to regain — but not again, Democrats insist as they head into the Veterans Day recess.

The landscape is a bit different this time. House Democrats passed a sweeping bill Saturday night, giving lawmakers something to tout back home but also providing Republicans with more concrete opportunities to criticize.

The Senate is closer to a health care floor debate, albeit moving at a much slower pace.

I highly doubt the dems will make themselves available while in recess. I think they will hide behind telecom town halls, telephone town halls, or no town halls at all. They are not going to give the opposition to question them.

I'm sure somebody has already mentioned this but it's worth mentioning again. Brave caution as I sense the socialist goons will be on the hunt and a willing press in collusion with them. Don't take the bait. Bark but don't bite. Smile as we cut them down with cold hard facts. They can't handle the truth.

So, then the bill has been signed into law? Or, are you so stupid to understand that it went to the senate where Reid says it's not a viable bill. Ooops, you mean the senate isn't gonna pass the bill? Yep, you're right.

I will be asking. But I hardly get much more than standard letters on issues even when I asked for specifics...and they are Republicans. I can only wonder what the Democrats give as answers. So I am not going to hold my breath. I wish I had kept notes on some other things you said.

You made the vague claim now prove it. I got my SS# a long long time ago. It was required to work. I do not remember what it said. Don't think they even gave me a copy. If they did it was destroyed in a fire long ago also. What are you talking about? Got a link to what you are implying? If you are going to use scare tactics you need to be more specific.

Proof these Dem's are out of touch and out of control; who else would keep poking a mad tiger with a stick? The majority that does not want their wild spending, insane social programs, or the collapse of the dollar is comprised of Americans, and not just Republicans. There are Democrats, Independants, hell, anybody with a brain, a conscience, and the ability to balance a checkbook really. What a surprise they are in for come the elections, but even scarier, I don't think they care. It's like they are obsessed or possessed just plain deaf or something.

This is a country who lends it's power to a select few. We have been lied to and trampled on as the political leaders turn this into an oligarchy where the few in Washington are doing everything they can to rule the country. They have forgotten we lend them the power to govern, to represent us. But they believe they can do whatever they want to do. Keep standing up to this uprising tyranny, make your voices heard. If they meet you with their thugs of SEIU and ACORN do not be intimidated, stand and be heard. This is yours and my country and together we shall all take it back and restore the Constitution, and make these elected dictators accountable.

Ask your congresspersons directly whether the governement will or will not be allowed to place IRS liens on private property to recoup the costs of medical care. We need to know because when the public option puts private insurers out of business, we will have no options. Government will control medical care AND costs. When we accept govt medical care, we will owe them (they'll decide how much). Premiums and taxes will never pay for the program. To recoup the costs of care, they will come after our assets, probably thru IRS liens. People who own no property or have no assets have nothing to lose. They will get care and pay very little - we will lose everything. This will destroy private property rights and redistribute the wealth.
