President Barack Obama said his $787 billion stimulus bill “has worked as intended” as he pushed back against Republican criticism that his recovery program has failed to rescue the economy.

Actually, in some ways he is telling the truth. The "stimulus" was intended to be used as political payback. The State is also intending to bail out the bankrupt blue states. I suspect that the bankrupt state-controlled media will be next in line after them.

I didnt vote for him either, but the trick with the 2 years is that he has the real money planned to start to become effective (he says) just when he will start planning for his re-election. Everything he does is done for a reason down the road. They are slowly building their foundation with unions, naacp, black panthers, newstations, written print, schools teaching liberal ideas to our kids (north east states), judges, ect. They are stacking the deck and I dont like it.

I think you all should "youtube" then-president Bush's "the sky is falling and I don't know WTF"-speech that he gave while he was still president and economic predictions were dire. Remember: McCain wanted to suspend his campaign for it. Naah, you don't remember. Anyway: If your life is no different despite the Bush-initiated stimulus package, maybe because it would be a hell of a lot worse without it. Watch Bush's speech on the economic downturn.

Bush tried to reign in the housing crisis and Fannie and freddie after Bawney Fwanks lied. We wouldn't have a problem with waiting if the money was being spent to benefit this country. It's only benefitting other countries...businesses will go elsewhere due to Cap and Tax, dollar continues to decline, etc. I'm truly afraid for our country, and yes, at the fault of both parties' BS!

Anthony - There was a huge run on the banks. Foreign countries withdrawing huge amounts of $ out of U.S. banks through wire transfers & ATM withdrawals and it would have collapsed our banking system. Someone was behind this! Who is the question and why? Tax cuts would have taken effect immediately Anthony and would have stimulated more than what they are doing now!

The problem is THE STIMULUS!!! If both of these idiots had let the private sector do what it does best, I don't think we would be in the shape we're in now. If a business does not make profits it fails .If congress would stop imposing their will on the car manufacturers they probably would not have gone into chapter 11. If we go after our own oil, and gas we would save over 700 Billion a year. Unless America wakes up soon we may not recognize our great country in 2 years.

There was no investment, the stimulus was a pork barrel bill - projects that the demos wanted for years. Most went to democratic districts all over the nation as payback for votes. It was all engineered by Pelosi.

MEDIA BS!!! I so agree that those unhappy, and angry with the "President" should rise up and make a difference in 2010-12. But one thing I have heard or read very little about is what to do about the MEDIA. We can blow our Congress and so forth in 2010, but if we don't get the point across to the "buy-est" media then nothing will change. If it weren't for the media Odumbo would NEVER have gotten elected. They practically gave him overwhelming endorsements and free advertising by never giving the real side of the man Wright, Ayers, etc. If they had attacked O with the same vigor that they attacked Palin I believe things would have turned out way differently. And if we don't start turning up the heat on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSN and their spins on the net, twitter, MySpace, printed mags and newspapers nothing will change for future campaigns; they have figured out how to put the man they want into office that many people knew was BAD for the country. How many of you can honestly say that you had even heard of this man 5 years? He made a meteoric rise up thru politics faster than any politician in recent decades and it is not all due to political machine in Chicago.
