Maybe not a time to point fingers, but it is important to understand how we got here, so that our next vote will correct the problems. As an example, who didn't think increasing home ownership would be a good thing? - it was how it was done that played a major part in the economic situation we now face. Until people start considering the consequences of government programs/freebies, the same people will be returned to office that brought us the current mess.
