President Barack Obama's push for quick action by Congress on climate change legislation suffered a setback on Thursday when the U.S. Senate committee leading the drive delayed work on the bill until September. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Barbara Boxer said her self-imposed deadline of early August for finishing writing a bill to combat global warming has been put off until after Congress returns from a recess that ends in early September.
JusMeAgain
uh Pat ... you just proved how little you really understand dude. Take heed of what Heat_Mizer just said. There are 4 or 5 different cycles that oscillate in an overlapping dynamic. Did Al Gore ever mention that we only have kept accurate temp. records since the late 1800's? Now riddle me this Batman ... the 'little ice age' ended around 1850, and the earth began it's normal heating cycle again. Now wouldn't it make sense that there would be a general trend of warming to bring the earth out of the drastic cooldown cycle that it was in? Everyone is certainly free to have their own opinion on this issue, but come on, we should destroy the economies of nation around the world because an ever shrinking group of 'scientists' and politicians think it would be a good idea? Lemme tell ya somethin, when a politician cries about the sky falling, and more money will stop it, RUN!
Ex Pat
Heat Mizer, you are incorrect. And stop using the 90s as some sort of benchmark decade. The only reason deniers latch on to 1998 as a starting point for a cooling trend was of because of an extreme variable (98 was an abnormally HOT year, even given a global mean temperature increase trend) and when cherry-picked like you for purposes of casuistry, it just makes you look silly. Look to longer trends, and the temperature is definitely increasing. Also, don't try and imply that the science groups you've listed do not support the theory of AGW, all of them have made very public statements, their words can be found on their sites, supporting the science and IPCC. Nice try though.
Heat_Mizer
Ex Pat, you don`t what your talking about. The carbon dioxide in the atmosphere continues to rise, but the world's temperature has been cooling since the mid 90`s. All 4 independent global temperature tracking organizations (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) confirm that the earth has cooled since 1998, and the cooling since 2007 is among the most dramatic temperature changes ever recorded. Anybody who looks at the records of global temperature can see a series of cycles that are overlayed on each other. There`s an apparent 900 year oscillation that caused the Roman Warm Period, then the Dark Age Cool Period, then the Medieval Warm Period, then the Little Ice Age, and the present warm period. And there seems to be an apparent 60 year oscillation that caused cooling to 1910, then warming to 1940, then cooling to 1970, then warming to 1998, then the cooling too date. Climate change is predominantly, if not entirely, NATURAL. It occurs mostly in response to variations in solar heating of the oceans.
Ex Pat
You really don't know what you are talking about do you? Yes, the climate changes naturally, but usually over millions of years or hundreds of thousands of years - that's when you note natural cycles and patterns. The change today is accelerated because the cause, or one of the causes, is anthropogenic. The build up in CO2 over the last 140 years has jumped about 200ppm and that correlates nicely with the rapid increase in temperature (a hundred years instead of hundreds of thousands of years). A rise in the planet's mean (that means average) temp by about 0.7 degrees Celsius. Now unless you have a scientific paper handy in your trailer disputing what the preponderance of the scientific community has found, and has believed for 20 years, I'd love to see it. Emerging nations like Brazil and India will have to do something because they are the ones that will be most affected by climate change, and they are the ones most ill equipped to deal with the adaptation measures necessary to deal with drastic changes. Like I said, it's inevitable that something will have to be done.

Per capita ALL of those countries are WAY under our current carbon out puts...

Let's hope Health Care doesn't suffer this same fate
Mrs. Ramsey
yes, for all of our sakes let's hope health care gets derrailed too.
PATRIOT UPRISING
Death to the Health Care Bill.
Defender of Freedom
Ex Pat, do you plan on paying for the uninsured's healthcare? I thought NOT!
Ex Pat
why? you prefer 45 million people with no coverage, and the millions with coverage beholden to accountants to determine their health care and not their doctors? Nice guy you are.
Capn Jack
Lets hope it does! Government control of our health care is the last thing anyone should want!
shapeless
why?
Ex Pat
If we can't trust the government to run our health care we sholdn't trust the government to run the CIA. Let's privatize it, I hear George Sorros wants to by our intelligence agency.

If we are lucky this bill might go the way of the dodo bird.

gizmo; LUCK has nothing to do with it --- it takes ACTION!
now we do have time to REALLY bombard these sob's !!
go to www.myfreemailsearch.com/contact
for a list of ALL of congresspersons with addresses, phone #'s and email addresses.
start emailing or calling or snailmailing and keep it up for the next two months!!!

Heresy! To say something becomes "extinct" is to imply that some animals "evolve" in some evil way! Three Hail Mary's - quick!
Ex Pat
Heresy! To imply that animals EVOLVE does against Intelligent Design! Please folks, no science here! This is a Christian site.
moesite
jusmeagain; aaa shut up!
JusMeAgain
Really? Since when? How in the world is extinction at all related to, or implied to be related to evolution? Extinction is simply the end of the last of a species. You got good kool-aid over there huh? lol
anoymouse
Wait "FOX nation victory"? I thought this was a news site? this sounds an awful lot like taking sides? Fair and balanced?
JusMeAgain
Well, if you truly understood the afront on the Constitution that the whole 'global warming' bill is ... and you truly understood that FoxNation stands above all for the Constitution and founding of this great nation ... you'd maybe understand that FoxNation inherantly could not take any other position, but that of being at emnity with such a bill. (Is that upity sounding enough for you by the way?) ... is there an echo in here???
Ex Pat
I'll throw down service men and women. No worries. No one has fought for this country's 'freedom" since the second world war. Since then, it's all been silly war games and war profiteering. We lionize these people too much. their contribution, really, is nothing. How did invading IRAQ on false intelligence make us safer? How was it in SERVICE for us?
Mike D
You forgot to throw down service men and women, mom, and apple pie! The Constitution framers may or may not have thought about the air we breathe, or our water supply. A good number of them wanted to keep their slaves (what they thought as a natural resource). Uppity, indeed. Reminds, me, where's the race card while we're at it?
Shamballa
Never thought I would say this, but I have to agree with the mouse on this one. Granted, the titles are meant to be teasers and illicit a response, but I seriously doubt that "FOX Nation" had anything to do with the delay on the voting and it does sound a bit like a partisan statement. Truth in advertisement.
anoymouse
Wait "FOX nation victory"? I thought this was a news site? this sounds an awful lot like taking sides? Fair and balanced?
ARJIS

We are back to your statement then. Fox is not allowed to voice their opinion on something they fill strongly about?
CB
Where were you when they handed out the syllabus. It's called "Fox Nation, AMERICA'S TALKING". This site is about us, if you want news go to a new site.
JusMeAgain
Well, if you truly understood the afront on the Constitution that the whole 'global warming' bill is ... and you truly understood that FoxNation stands above for the Constitution and founding of this great nation ... you'd maybe understand that FoxNation inherantly could not take any other position, but that of being at emnity with such a bill. (Is that upity sounding enough for you by the way?)
ARJIS
So.. we are back to your original comment then. Fox can't voice an opinion on something they feel strongly about?
ARJIS
Anoymouse... You mean like MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS..take sides?
Oh I get it... It is OK for them to spew their bias.. but not ok for Fox to voice their opinion? Drink some more of the kool-aid
anoymouse
so if a "news" agency feels strongly about something they should become part of the news instead of report on it? thats your idea of a fair press? A news agency that feels we were miss led into a war cannot voice there opinion?
ANGELUL
I am praying for political climate change with his impeachment! IG firings, ACORN, bailouts, skyrocketing debt, nuclear disarmament/out-dated weapons to weaken our defenses seems treasonous to me!
We Hold These Truths
You horrid people at FoxNation! Don't you understand the seriousness of saving fuzzy little creatures that dance and sing in our forests? Polar bears that narrate movies on how hard life is in the arctic? How can man stop the natural evolution of the earth without paying more money to Congress? It seems a real scientist, not one of a self appointed nature from a political career, has been trying to tell people that parts of Antarctica have melted forty times in the last 175 million years, a few of those were before man and his machines believe it or not. The last one 130,000 years ago caused the water levels to rise 20 feet! But the problem is, this is all NATURAL folks. Man may have helped, but he didn't start it, and he sure as heck can't stop it!
HMG
Maybe they will take the time to actually read it before they sign a bill that will further damage this country. Or could they be looking at the latest polls and realize that most people are against it?
noblinkster
Just gives them more time to make up something. Why not just basic scientific facts that they are totally WRONG!!!! Folks, we must stay vigilant and be on our toes in September because ya know it's a comin!!!!
moesite
noblinkster; no it give US more time to SCREAM OUR HEADS OFF!! they dont give a da#n about scientific facts. All they care about is pleasing OBUMMER / PELOSI and having another bill to stuff PORK into!
We actually have time now to deluge DC with emails / phone calls / snailmails!!
Put down the remote and start "campaigning" NOW!!!
go to: www.myfreemailsearch.com/congress and youll get a list of ALL of congress with emails, phone #'s, and snailmail addresses.

Mike the Gov has never done anything for the environment but the people have. What do you mean? They just spend our money
Mike D
Yay! Continue to ruin our country through fear, lies and loud voices! Way to go Fox Nation!
moesite
Mike; when the taxes to pay for all this lunacy starts hitting will you be saying YAY? I doubt it!!!
cosmo
if you want lies, fear, and loud voices you might want to go to the Huffington post or the Daily Kos. Why do you even bother with this terrible site. They will actually agree with you, wouldn't that make you feel better?
Dianne
Mike D, have you done research yet? There are two sides to every belief. Mother Nature knows how to keep the earth intact. Who caused the Ice Age? You must believe that earth does what it does on its own. We don't have that much power. Please keep an open mind and truly read the facts. I find it best to listen to different news channels so none of them brainwash me. That frees my brain to make my own decision.
tom
Dianne -- you're not brainwashed? It that's the case, you're an idiot then. Please keep an open mind? Your mind is closed. If a fact doesn't fit in with your extremist right-wing views, ability your course of action is to ignore it.
JusMeAgain
.... that's MR and MRS Fox Nation to you....
John in So Texas
I really feel sorry for people like you Mike. You really think everything is peaches, and cream, and our present administration, is really working in your best interest. Wake up son!, look around, things are not good. It's singular minded people like you that elected a guy, hell bent on putting this country in financial ruin.
Mike D
That's odd considering Bush never did anything with MY best interests in mind. In only 180 days in office, It would be tough to repair all of the damage left behind. If being singular is that I want a better life (and mine's pretty darn good), then so be it.
