FOX Nation Victory! Obama's Drive for Climate Change Bill Delayed!

President Barack Obama's push for quick action by Congress on climate change legislation suffered a setback on Thursday when the U.S. Senate committee leading the drive delayed work on the bill until September. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Barbara Boxer said her self-imposed deadline of early August for finishing writing a bill to combat global warming has been put off until after Congress returns from a recess that ends in early September.

Only a delusional fool would attribute a well-intended plan to work on the bill as a "victory" to some highly biased tabloid Internet site. How desperate is Faux Noise to grab attention to itself? This is the newest low we've seen in a while.

This may be a bit of a strategic retreat on the part of the Dems to give them time to garner some support for the bill from weak kneed RINO Republicans so they can have political cover by saying Republicans were on board. We may have a bit of a sigh of collective relief, but don't think the battle is over. Lets show them exactly what We the People think it means when the Declaration of Independence says that we have the Right to "alter or abolish" out of control Federal government when it becomes destructive of our liberties. It's always WINTER somewhere on the planet. The seasons and temperature are controlled by the tilt of the earths axis toward or away from the sun. To significantly affect the temperature on the earth, you would have to be able to affect it's position relative to the sun, and the tilt on it's axis. Try correcting that!

Okay, people. Now is not the time to let up either. Please look at this site. It promotes the idea that since the Declaration of Independence says that "We the People" have the right to "alter or abolish" that form of government when it becomes destructive to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness...that We the People have the right to put out of office those that act in contradiction of the Constitution. Interesting read. Yes "We the People" have declared war, and here is where you can sign up. This site puts forth a unique proposition, based on the Right of the people in the Declaration of Independence, that we have the right to "alter or abolish" those in office that have violated the Constitution. Read it and see what you think. http://avoiceofthepeople.com/

The globe was warming, until it started cooling. If you look at ALL the science, these cycles have occured throughout the earths history. A few scientists have made theories about how much of this is caused by man, but just as many dispute their theories. The debates are not over and much more research is needed before anyone can make an informed decision. Making crippling laws based on speculation and misinformation is absolutely INSANE.

Capn Jack, the earth isn't cooling in any sort of long term way. There will always be warmer and cooler spells, global warming or no. Right now we're in one of the cooler spells, but it's almost certainly not as cool as it WOULD have been. That's global warming.

The bottom line gentlemen is that the earth IS cooling and that one can find scientific data for both sides of the argument. However, the preponderance of evidence is leaning heavily against global warming being man made. In any case no matter what we do, China and India will not go along thereby making this bill a sham.

dfc, the existence of natural climate change (which no one disputes) doesn't preclude human-induced climate change. Things can have more than one cause. This is like saying, "Humans have been dying of natural causes for millennia, which proves that getting shot is not harmful."
.
Regarding volcanoes, volcanic activity doesn't raise global temperatures, it lowers them. The large volume of particulate matter that enters the atmosphere increases earth's albedo (reflectivity), so more sunlight is reflected back into space, and less reaches the surface. That matter precipitates out of the atmosphere within a few years--but greenhouse gases don't.

Ex Pat - You need to look back at history and try to explain what is known as "The Little Ice Age" where there was a summer without a summer. This occurred well before the industrial revolution. climate change occurred naturally most likely due to volcanic activity. The outpour of several volcanos would overshadow all of man's output. Large ursts of volcanic activity have occurred in recent history and this is the better evidence of recent climate change not someone's SUV.

There’s a difference between believing that global warming exists and believing that man is responsible for it and can control it. Even if we agree that man causes global warming and can control it, the entire world has to participate, not just a handful of countries. Will investing billions, sacrificing jobs and increasing costs for all Americans during a severe economic downturn be worth what we get – or do not get – in return? Forcing cap and trade down our throats while knowing it won’t accomplish much isn’t going to be popular with most Americans and savvy politicians know it, especially now that China and India have refused to join in the effort.

I don't know about you but having lived in LA I know it's not exactly pleasant being advised to stay inside because the air isn't fit to breath...I'm a pragmatist but I have to side with the democrats on this I think we should spend now to save in the long run and not just save money but save our planet and our species...remember we haven't always been here and many species in the past have been wiped out from climate change...and to the fire that's sure to draw from the religious right God put us here to be stewards of this earth...this earth and this life were gifts to us...why wouldn't we want to preserve that and try to live long healthy lives?

Open discussion? What do you mean? It is the most openly discussed and debated scientific theory every, next to evolution. There are more written papers on this subject that any other, there are more open debates on this subject than any other, and there are more column inches dedicated to a debate that really doesn't even exist int he scientific community. You don't need to search hard to find how many peer reviewed scientific papers have been written about this issue, and the see what the preponderance (at about a 100 to 1 ratio) of scientists believe to be fact. Sorry, don't give us this "there is no debate". For starters, AL IS A POLITICIAN and not a scientist. Making a film does not make you the over-riding authority on an issue. But thanks for bring his name up. It's partisan hacks like YOU that hate the man, and know nothing about the science, and you prove it with posts like that.

One of the main reasons I don't worry about global warming, besides the fact I am not sold on it, is the fact that the earth has a failsafe just in case something bad was to happen to it. The earth is a much more complicated system then we give it credit for. It is complicated but also complex. The earth has a fail safe built into it so that when the earth heats up, even a degree past a certain point, it will warm up the water increasing evaporation, creating cloud, shading the ground, cooling the temperature, and finally lowering the temperature of the earth. About ten years ago the cloud coverage increased, this does not mean rain increased, just clouds, and has been cooling the earth ever since, minus 2006, when there was a temperature spike, but 2007 it continued to fall. There is a great debate that is going on right now about Global Warming. I like reading both sides on www.AmericanParchment.com, there you will get a good spread of information and what governerment and the environment is doing when it comes to the climate.
