FOX Nation Victory! Obama's Drive for Climate Change Bill Delayed!

President Barack Obama's push for quick action by Congress on climate change legislation suffered a setback on Thursday when the U.S. Senate committee leading the drive delayed work on the bill until September. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Barbara Boxer said her self-imposed deadline of early August for finishing writing a bill to combat global warming has been put off until after Congress returns from a recess that ends in early September.

My Senator George Voinovich will not vote for it. The other Senator from my state Sherrod Brown will. I have notified Brown that I will financially support the person who runs against him in the next election. We should all do that. And put what's left of our money where our mouths are. I will no longer support party hacks. I will support patriots in and out of my state.

The United States of America was founded on the principles that we the people hold as true, these are the natural rights of every citizen given to them by “their” Creator. These rights support the dignity of the individual and the individual’s freedoms, choices and ambitions. Human beings have the right to live freely and pursue whatever motivates them, not because organized government dictates, but because these are the natural rights that are the human spirit. These are the ideals set forth in the United States Constitution.
The present and past Administrations of the United States Government have for the last eighty years with the exception of one presidency in the 1980’s, migrated toward the belief in supremacy of the state. These Administrations have ignored the principles set forth by our Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence and United States Constitution. They have promoted the philosophy that the freedom of the individual is secondary to the migration of society toward a “utopian state.” The present Administration has promoted this philosophy more rapidly that any in the past. However, this present Administration is no different than past electorates, all of whom were dissatisfied with the condition of their existence. This Administration is only more zealous in its condemnation of its fellow man and society itself for denying it the fulfillment, success and exaltation that it believes it deserves, without working for it.

And btw, I'm a minority whose parents were immigrants from a Communist country. You libs have absolutely NO appreciation for the freedom we have in our country. There was equality in my parents' former country alright- everyone was equally miserable, poor, hungry, destitute and completely bereft of hope for a good future for themselves and their children. The *leaders* were the only ones to live well as I suspect BO does as TOTUS.
You far left libs are good at spinning and making socialism/communism a form of utopia. Only in your latte-addled minds...

banditsmom, my point was just that Gore has nothing to do with the science, and we should make any judgments on the science with Gore (or any other politician) in mind. As for the scientists, considering that there around ten times as many scientists who agree with global warming as there are who disagree with it, my inclination is to go with the overwhelming consensus. I've read what they say, and I've read what the other side says, and I find them far more convincing.

Army Vet this is for you:
Have you really looked at the science? CO2 is a TRAILING indicator. It gets warm before the increase in CO2. Look at the latest studies. This goes back to solubility of gas in fluids, ie CO2 in the vast oceans. If CO2 at low ocean floor locations is given off it must surface being less dense. Link: http://jcbmac.chem.brown.edu/myl/hen/CO2Water.gif
Also, as land is lifted up from lower levels to highter levels from tecnonic movement, it lowers the pressure on the water and therefore less CO2 can be dissolved in the ocean water. End result - more CO2 in the air, not from people but from nature.

Friday, July 10, 2009 at 04:55 PM Report

KJK

"CO2 is a TRAILING indicator" That's an oversimplification. CO2 and temp are interdependent, which means that BOTH "A causes B" and "B causes A" are true. In earlier warmings, the climate warmed due to whatever natural cause, which resulted in large amounts of stored CO2 being released by various natural processes such as melting permafrost. The added CO2 caused additional warming, and by the time it was all done, it was the CO2 that had caused most of the overall warming.

Um, so all the CO2 that comes out of our tailpipes and coal fired factories has no impact? It's just gone? While what you say may be true, to just say all the CO2 we produce just goes away makes no sense. Here's some more science - I've posted this before - CO2 in the atmosphere has increased 35% since 1832, most of that increase since 1960. What happened after 1960? A lot more cars and coal fired plants. As more coal plants have been built around the world, the increase in CO2 accelerates. That's measurable. Tectonic movements take eons, not decades.

"wouldn't it make sense that it may still be increasing". No. Global warming doesn't say that every year must be warmer than the previous. All it says is that it must be a little bit warmer than it would have been.
.
Do a mental experiment. Picture a graph of temperatures over the last, say, 100 years, without global warming. The numbers don't matter, just picture its wavy appearance as we go through natural periods of relatively warmer and cooler weather. Now take the graph and make all the bars a little bit taller. That's global warming. It's still wavy, isn't it?

well if we've already see a steady increase in CO2 for hundreds of years, wouldn't it make sense that it may still be increasing? there is not a shred of evidence that is it due to human produced emissions. it's a natural occurance that even Al Gore has show in his favorite chart. Come up with a different piece of science than that. Does it make sense that it has such a huge impact when it's only 360 PPM of atmospheric gas and water vapor is up to 40,000 PPM of atmospheric gas and hold over 1000 times more heat? CO2 is a trace element and it's amount of heat absorbtion is irelevant compared to water vapor.

Enuf: As in most things, moderation is the key. Enough CO2 is good. Too much CO2 is bad. The earth was in an equiblrium where things that produce CO2 were balanced by things that take up CO2, so the concentration remained pretty much steady. We've upset that balance by adding 25-30 gigatons of CO2 every year; the earth doesn't have the capacity to absorb all of it.
.
On your second point, the existence of natural climate change doesn't preclude manmade cliamte change. Things can have more than one cause. Natural causes are unable to explain what's been happening since about 1975.
