Obama Compares Passing Cap-and-Trade to Freeing the Slaves!

The authors' bottom line was a cap that would gradually reduce greenhouse gas emissions, ultimately achieving 80 percent reductions from 1990 levels by 2050. Everything else was negotiable. When Obama entered the fray on May 5, summoning all 36 committee Democrats to the White House, he didn't make a single demand. Rather, participants say, he pointed to a portrait of Abraham Lincoln and said, "He had a chance to affect history. You, too, have a chance to affect history."

Is BHO trying to rewrite history............He was not born from a slave heritage AND HE IS NO LINCOLN, KENNEDY, OR ANYONE ELSE HE TIES HIMSELF. He is still a citizen of another country. Which one is still hidden from WE THE PEOPLE. Cap and Trade will destroy this country while freeing the slaves was necessary to restore Human Rights to America. Again, HE IS NO LINCOLN. HE IS AS CRAZY IT SEEMS AS KING GEORGE.......He makes statements everyday that are not true ...........he has no COMMON SENSE....He doesn't seem to live in my reality or others. God Help America!!!!!!this 4th of July. CAP AND TRADE or CAP AND TRADE AWAY OUR AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE. Well, we won't trade our America.................

Yes, President Lincoln had a chance to affect history and he did that by making sure he looked out for "all people" in this country. The 13th amendment was something that was sorely needed. He could have leaned with the special interests and ignored what was right and proper, but he didn't. This president is only interested in his own agenda without regard to how it will affect the majority of the people he is responsible to protect.

Excellent point. My ancestors were Portuguese slaves in Hawaii many generations back. What about the Hebrew slaves in Egypt? Get over it people! It is a pity that this half black politician can't make a policy point without the cheezy tacktics of rallying people of color by invoking some stupid "slave" comment. Stick to the facts on policy that are relevant!! When he can't win an argument on merit, then he tries to divert by appealing to the more selacious side of things. This is a very, very old debating or arguing technique--if you can't win on facts, then try to win with emotion.

One of Barry's main campaign themes was his promise to "Re-Make America". It's sad what uninformed people misunderstood that to mean. They heard what they wanted to hear; not what Barry and his machine were actually saying. We are getting just what Barry and his machine campaigned for. Sad days and a huge potential for disaster for our great nation.

Also a large percentage of slaves were into slavery by thier own Cheftains (they also sold people captured in battle into slavery) to the Europeans that brought them to America and sold them to Plantation owners. I despise the thought of slavery, but if the subject is broached those that fall back on it should mention ALL of the history behind it.

Peaceful protests such as the Tea Parties
Educate your friends and family
Start your own blog
Vote in the primaries
Support your favorite candidate with your time and money
Run yourself
Support candidates that promise to balance the budget, control spending, support term limits and not to go crazy with regulation...social issues need to take a back burner until fiscal and economic sanity has been re-established
In the short term....protest and call and write your Senators and Congressmen.

As an American citizen and a scientist, I urge you to make sure you know what the latest evidence is before supporting the Cap and Trade Bill. In summary, the evidence has evolved. Also be aware that it is impossible to collect co2 without using large amounts of energy. The scientific laws of thermodynamics allow you to calculate the amount of energy required. Therefore if you collect co2, the price of all types of energy will go up in order to pay for the energy used to collect the co2.
A costly energy impact on the public will be imposed, no matter what the provisions are in a bill that attempts to collect co2. What this says is that it is critical to determine whether greenhouse gases impact the global climate. The point is go by the science!! not someone's belief. It does not matter who said it in years past, what matters is what the data proves! One of the article's below, clearly shows that the data has evolved and there is no evidence (even the IPCC can’t find any) to support the claim that co2 is causing the global temperature to rise. The other article outlines the thought process to explain to people who understand fairness, that cap and trade will punish those who are doing nothing wrong.

Cap & Trade is really a rehash of the old Clean Air Act where there were traded credits. Is there an educated, research journalist out there to do the comparison and factual story. By the way, why doesn't everyone call their Senator and request a copy of the cap & trade bill. After all, they seem much too busy to read the legislation - why not do it for them??
