Democrats Get Their 60th Senate Seat

The Minnesota Supreme Court yesterday declared comedian-turned-politician Al Franken the winner of the state's U.S. Senate race, ending an eight-month-long election saga and giving Democrats a 60-seat majority that theoretically would allow them to block GOP filibusters. In a unanimous ruling, the court rejected Republican  Norm Coleman's legal arguments that some absentee ballots had been improperly counted and that some localities had used inconsistent standards in counting votes.

Great, now we can put an end to this fake bipartisan bs. Republicans refuse to act in a manner that is good for the country, and just take an opposing position no matter what the subject. There's no working with whining poor losers! Let's get on with undoing all the Republican/religious facism!

Too bad that we can't go back and redo all the November 2008 elections...I doubt Franken could now defeat Coleman and I doubt that Dems in general would now see the gains they saw back in November!

What a country. I thought when the people of Minnesota voted Jesse Ventura in as governor, what a quirky bunch. But, hey, it is their state and they will have to deal with the ramifications of their decision. Now, electing Al Franken, we will all have to pay to some degree for their quirkiness. I suggest that we should show our displeasure with their decision by boycotting the state and not spend any of our recreational dollars there. I hope those Minnesotan who feel it necessary to flaunt this victory in our faces are employed by or directly affected by the loss of the tourism dollars. Have a good day.

Of course voting for a B movie actor for President is so much more American...

Of course that B movie actor was head of the actor's union, which seems to be of great importance to libs. Also, he was governor of California too. Franken credentials - writer on SNL and failed talk show host. I guess in your world that is the same.

So, let's punish everybody? Even those who did not vote for Franken? Should the other side do the same to your state? You have the right to spend your money as you see fit, but asking all of America to punish ALL Minnesotans for exercising their constitutional rights is not well thought out.

Gladly, Uncle Tom. Original vote showed a difference of 206 for Coleman. Then there was a recount in which certain absentee ballots were counted and other were not, their validity was determined by the Secretary of State in Minnesota, a Democrat. The recount showed a difference of 312 votes for Franken, but again not all absentee ballots were counted. The same stunt that Gore was trying to get away with in 2000. Coleman could have pressed on the Supreme Court, with a valid argument of not all absentee ballots were counted, but he chose not to continue the fight. He was running out of funds. Good enough Uncle Tom.

LA_USMC, please explain how the state made a mockery of the election. It was an extremely close election. There do appear to be irregularities. HOWEVER, their Supreme Court made a decision. Be more like Coleman and ACCEPT it. Hopefully Minnesotans will rectify it next election...I feel the same about our presidential election. No, it wasn't well thought out. Read the Constitution that you defended or do now defend.

In the real world, my suggestion is well thought out. I will not and suggest others do not spend their money in a state that has made a mockery out of the election process. As long as it remains in Minnesota, okay, now no more. Boycott Minnesota.

Hey brother. Are you liberal? Then stop acting like it. There are plenty of issues in which to refute Franken. Your comments about him and his wife are not called for. Do you complain when the press and others do the same thing to Sarah Palin? That would make you a hypocrite.
