No Joke! Stuart Smalley Headed to Senate!

The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled today that Democrat Al Franken won the U.S. Senate election and said he was entitled to an election certificate that would lead to him being seated in the Senate. "Affirmed," wrote the Supreme Court, unanimously rejecting Republican Norm Coleman's claims that inconsistent practices by local elections officials and wrong decisions by a lower court had denied him victory.

The democrats own it all, they also have the full responsibility to bring this country around. In a year and a half, what will our gas prices be? What will the interest rates be? What will the unemployment be? You can only blame Bush for so much, and he NEVER had a filibuster proof Senate, and such a majority in the house.

Kudos to your previous post. I was going to write something snide but your post gave me pause. I'm glad Mr. Franken will be seated in the U.S. Senate but I fell bad for Mr. Coleman as he always seemed to be a standup guy. I will always rage against the right but sometimes maybe a more contemplative approach is warranted.

GOP 3 said: "The picture says it all!!"
What it says is that Fox thinks this is some kind of joke despite their headline saying otherwise. The MN people voted Franken in and he is now a Senator. Like him or not, the story shouldn't have a picture of a SNL character up there. Franken's being seated means 60 Democrats and he is going to DC to make policy. Deal with it honestly instead of putting up a dumb Stuart Smalley picture or the joke will be on FOX.

I agree it doens't help to put forth photos that attempt to give a negative message.
Franken will open his mouth and the message will be given he isn't in tune with what is happening on the political scene.
Yes, I am conservative, but I listened to Franken when he was on XM radio a couple years ago, and all he could do was say negative things about the Republicans.
He didn't offer any solutions to what he was criticizing at any time. It seems his only position was one that was opposite George Bush. If you are going to be constructive, offer solutions that have a chance of working, whether they are popular solutions or not with the public.
I believe he won because the Republicans were blamed for all that was happening and because a minority was the change people were led to believe was the change that was needed.
Let's see what type of legislation Franken proposes that will fix the country and move in the direction of prosperity for all and not just legislation that spreads the wealth.
Spreading the wealth may destroy those that use their wealth to create more wealth by providing jobs.

And it is hilarious that the Fixed News crowd is calling Minnesota a joke. I am sorry which state just had a Governor go AWOL leaving that in limbo incase a disaster happened? Oh yeah that was a red state in South Carolina seems to me that more of a joke than a state electing Al Franken senator.

GOP 3, is this really the depth of your decesion making when selecting an elected official? What they look like? Wouldn't you like to have some substance? No, I guess not, you prefer guys like Sanford, Ensign etc. You know, real stand up moral charecter kind of guys and hey! good looking too right? Can you name three SPECIFC things that you feel make Franken unfit for the job? I didn"t think so, you just follow along with the talking heads and disagree with anything that comes from someone with a different view point. Just because it isn"t what you believe doesn"t make it wrong. Open your mind and have a conversation with someone with an opposing view. It's healthy, and you BOTH might learn something.

Never been able to figure out the lunacy of Minnesota politics. They've been the only state or among a few states to support the dem in huge rep landslides such as McGovern 72, Carter 80, Mondale 84, and Dukakis 88. Much of their population immigrated from Europe, especially the Scandinavian countries. If they love socialism so much, why did they leave?
