House Democrats Defend Pedophiles Over Veterans
This is really kind of mind numbing and demonstrates what is wrong with Congress. During a House Judiciary Committee meeting, Congressman Steve King (R-IA) offered up an amendment to the hate crimes bill to exclude pedophiles from being a protected category under the hate crimes legislation. Every single Democrat voted it down.

WAKE UP, WAKE UP, WAKE UP! I don't understand what's wrong with you people. Don't you EVER think for yourselves? Don't you EVER do your own research, which in this case would have taken maybe a minute? This bill does NOT protect pedophiles. It never did. You don't have to exclude something that was never included. When you order a burger, do you say, "I'll have a hamburger, but do NOT put any whipped cream on it!! Do you hear me? I said NO whipped cream!"

Basic differences between republicans and democrats are one thing. How can democrats support something like this? This defies all rational thought. These people have to be stopped. I know many reasonable democrats, they were appalled at this. Everyone in America needs to see this. I know there are many more people against this insanity than support it. how can people support laws that protect people from being attacked because of who they are? I don't know, because they believe people shouldn't be attacked because of who they are maybe? I can't access the link so I can't find the whole story, and hate crime legislation is a horrible mess, but from the blurb, it looks like the bill counted pedophiles as someone that would be attacked because of who they are, and democrats thought they should be, it doesn't support what they do, it just poses stiffer penalties for people who beat them up and leave them in a ditch, or tied to a fence, because of who they are.

PRE-COMMENT DISCLAIMER: I have wonderful friends in the gay community and they're people too, just like my straight friends. I don't think they're bad people and I believe they deserve to be happy. I don't support their lifestyle any more than I'd support the lifestyle of someone who practiced self-mutilation, but I do support their lives and their rights. The 1968 federal hate crimes law permits the federal prosecution of a hate crime only if the crime was motivated by bias based on race, color, national origin, and religion. The person committing the crime intended to prevent the victim from exercising a “federally protected right” such as the right to vote or attend school. This legislation ONLY adds disabled, sexual orientation and gender identity, to ALL READY existing hate crime legislation. Because even if a crime may target an individual person, the result is that they invoke fear among many in a community. It expands laws to include not only "federally protected right” But it includes EVERYONE in situations other than voting and attending school. Pedophiles were NEVER mentioned in this bill or protected, hence there was NO reason to add an amendment to remove protection for them. King only wanted to link the gay with pedophilia.
