A leading US Democratic senator warned President Barack Obama Monday not to neglect Somalia after the latest piracy incident off the country's coast and a mortar attack on a US lawmaker.
"For years, Somalia's growing instability was neglected by the Bush administration and the international community. The new administration must not make the same mistake," Democratic Senator Russell Feingold said.

This is the problem with America today. "It's not my fault!" People blame all thier problems on everyone else but the one person they should blame, themselves. Same with the liberals in congress. They blame Bush for the economy being in the tank except for thier golden boy Clinton for signing NAFTA and Carter for wanting fair housing. Instead of telling people work hard contribute to your country save your money and buy a home then work hard to keep it he said you can get a house without a job.I remember the economy was doing just fine until Nancy and her brood took control. So why not blame Bush for pirates. So Mr. Fiengold, next April 15,2010 when you don't get a refund or you actually have to pay are you gonna blame Bush for that. Oh wait I forgot you guys get a pass on paying taxes.

Hey chitown, what the hell do you mean the majority party can not pass a bill in private. The recent stimulus passed by dems.was so private they did not even read it. Having been to Chicago several times I realize that it has more than it's share of crooks, thugs and other looney tunes and your reasoning and so called evidence just points that out. The trouble with you liberals is the fact that you could not find the corner store without govt. assistance.

Does anyone EVER remember Bush blaming Clinton for 9/11? NOT ONE TIME!
That is clearly where the blame should have been, but Bush just dealt with it.
USAF Retiree
I sure hope the new first dog doesnt poop anywhere in our white house, or president bush will for sure be blamed.
Elle
USAF Retiree-the new first dog pooped before he got there---the O's were supposed to get a pound dog--to get around that promise they got TKennedy to donate an expensive one to them--one that would fit their image--that stinks like poop to me. I dont care if he spends $20,000 for a dog if it is what he wants but don't try to make us believe he "rescued" it.
Chris E.
Democrats and like pussies....they blame everyone else for their screw ups.
Feingold is a classice example.

Eyksis,
I just retired after 23+ years in 2007. I think Bush owns a huge portion of the blame for ignoring this problem for 8 years. I know numerous ex military that likewise think Bush was a horrible commander in chief!

Once again come election time I will vote againt Feingold.

Eykis,
Most military, or former military folks (veterans), are free thinkers. They aren't ignorant enough to blame either president for the pirates running ruck shod up and down the coast of Africa. How could anything but ignorance be behind blaming a U.S. president for companies operating out of other countries paying ransoms to pirates and helping to create a lucrative business?
None of us would be ignorant enough to buy into your assertion that we have gone to war with the world and failed either. Frankly, I was wondering where you pulled that from. As bad as it stinks, one can only guess.
You are correct, however, we don't have to make enemies. They seem to do fine in making themselves. You can't pretend a threat isn't there and have it go away. You either succumb or fight it, but it will not go away just because you pretend you can makes friends with an unreasonable and unbending enemy.
BTW, has anyone reported you for the lude suggestion you threw at the tea party folks? Teabagers indeed.... psh!
Bill-NC
It appears that the vast number of Liberals are still suffering from acute "Bush Derangment Syndrome". When will it end. Bush is gone, your Messiah is at the helm and most of us feel like we're undergoing a pirate attack by the president and congress. They steal more from the people than the pirates ever could.

the problem here is many misinformed and/or dumb Americans.
many people who voted for carter 4-years later voted for reagan??
now there are 2 ideologically similar guys!
today, people think a community-agitator with no experience,
a leftist by definition + historical action, can be a centrist-unifier.
my mother watches the 'View' but does not think they are political.
she did not realize that joy + whoopi are probably dems.
she's not alone.
OF COURSE CLINTON IS LARGELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SITUATION IN SOMALIA !!! the "liberal-dems" are never held accountable.
but they have successfully painted the conservatives as villains + hicks
and continue to do so.
i can sum up the future in 3-words.....................senator al fraken.

It would be interesting to see what the congress and the press would have done had President Bush decided to treat Somolia as the Barbery Coast of old. A congress which seems to be attempting to get votes from Al Ceada, Mexico, Europe, and any place else not American would have had a field day with Bush trying to stop piracy in that part of the ocean. Since no one has chosen to deel with this problem for more than a hundred years it is hard to say this problem is strictly bushes fault, especially since is is the congress who has the privilage of declaring war, but incidently no spine for it. how convenient that the war powers act was signed which allowed the congress to pass the but on the one leadership responsibility it actually possessed. So now they not only refuse to represent the voters who hired them they shirk the responsibilities that are constitutionally theirs.
hawgrider4life
Well, Russ, I say piss on somalia, I care not one whit if everybody in the country lives or dies. I reject the notion the the welfare of any country on the african continent is the responsibility of the United States. This continent is in the stone age, rife with corruption, cruelty and genocide, and it is not going to get any better. The rulers there are evil, corrupt and murderous thugs with some few exceptions, and if they don't care about the plight of their peoples, why in the heck should we. The only thing the US needs to do is keep the sea lanes open FOR OUR SHIPS and then let the chips fall where they may. The last time I checked, you, Mr. Feingold, were the senator from Wisconsin...why not represent your constituents and let africa worry about itself, you pompous windbag.
Anonymous
sorry eykis, somalia is one of Clinton's leftovers.
Donna P
How unbelievable! For Obama to blame President Bush is so off base! BO must have a memory loss... history shows this started with the Clinton mishandling of Somalia..... Oh wait, he was also a dem. so it has to be blamed on Mr. Bush. How pathetic.......
R Bloodworth
President Bush ignored Somolia? I have not been involved in any of the meeting or discussions that have taken place in the White House, or Washington for that matter, during the past administration's tenure so I cannot answer to that particular accusation. What I can and will do is state what I know. President George H. W. Bush sent American forces to Somolia in 1992 on a mission that was supposed to last about three(3) months to feed a starving population caught in a famine that had been created by warlords, thugs, and terrorists who had been preying on the Somoli people for year prior. President Bill Clinton took office in 1993 and it was shortly thereafter that the mission to capture Aidid was ordered. Wasn't that right about the time that Clinton was busy trying to make himself look tough so his precious "legacy" wouldn't be affected???? As everybody who is not selective in what they remember knows, that mission was a failure and American Soldiers died because of it, 18 of them, if memory serves. Then, it was very shortly after that all forces were ordered out of Somolia and none have been back there since the left. Since then, I have heard little or nothing at all in the "media" or from elected officials in Washington DC, or from anywhere else until recently, when these pirates finally hit the news. People can point fingers and play the blame game all they want but doesn't not change facts. Blame on President Bush or bame it all on President Clinton. It makes no difference. Any blame should be shared by all concerned who had any say in the matter. The simple fact is this. Somolia has been ignored since Clinton ordered U. S. forces to be pulled out.
Piracy in that part of the word is NOT new to any who know anything of world history, and the only reason it's such a big deal today is the fact that, for the first time since President Thomas Jefferson got sick and fed up with payin 3 out of every $5.00 going into the U.S. treasury to pirates and sent a force of U.s. Marines to stop it, an American ship has been attacked by pirates who wanted to ransom it. Hasn't anybody ever heard the U,S, Marine Corps Song???? "From the Halls of Montezuma----To the Shores of Tripoli"???????? Just exactly what part of the world to you think Tripoli is in????? You guessed it......
Blame President Bush, President Clinton, Congress, Democrats, Republicans, or anybody else all you like but it still changes nothing. The simple fact is that it has now reached a point where in cannot be ignored anymore,,,by anybody.... All of you who are so busy pointing fingers and blaming others,,,, you may as well look into the nearest mirror and point at the one looking back at you too, for not paying more attention to hostile acts committed against the United States by others and demanding action be taken to combat them. Oh hell,,, while you're at it, just go ahead and blame me too....I've been there before....

I think that Sen. Russ Feingold is a moron. This seems to be the Democrats resopnse to all of the problems is to blame Pres. Bush. This is getting old already & it's time for these lefties to start taking resposibility for what's wrong in the world. I do remember Pres. Clinton tucking his tail between his legs & leaving Somalia after the Blackhawk Down incident in the '90's.
Blaming Bush Again? Enough Blame Game!
Let' not forget that TWO YEARS Dems on capitol hill have been in charge and so far, they screwed us and my grandchildren's future of owning a small business.
So far, Dems have proven to us that they know nothing about running a country. It's bad enough that Obama and his ill-inform power hunger staff don't either.
This blaming Bush and lying syndrome is getting real old. O yeah, who can out do Gibbs; " Obama Didn't Bow To Prince."

I have read most of these posts. Depression, sorrow, and anger are very evident in every post. Both by the liberal America bashers and the true patriots.
I can see a coup coming in the form of a dictatorship. Labeling patriots as criminals and extremists. Acorn coming out tomorrow to start fights and riots with the Tea Party protestors, eventually BO will put us under martial law which will suspend the constitution and secure his dictatorship. We will not get to vote in 3 years/6mos/20 days....
If we are at civil war by then, I wonder if the left will blame Bush for the failure of tAmerica the Beautiful....

I think the senator would make an excellent ambassador to the region. To lay the blame on President Bush is not only wrong, but just another sign that the pople in Washington have absolutely no ideas of their own. As stated in an earlier comment, this senator was in Washington before the last 2 administations. Where was he then? Vote him out!

Obama is winging it. He has no clue on how to run our wonderful country. He is a talking machine and an expert on reading from a teleprompter. Take a look at all the far left people he has nominated for his cabinet. How many have survived the look into their past deeds? Not many and here comes another one Kathleen Sebelius (HHS nominee) who has been very active in vetoing every bill that was presented in regard to abortion. She is a BIG receiver of campaign funds from the King of Late Term Abortion, Dr. George Tiller. OOPS! she failed to report the 36K that she got from him on her tax report. hmmmmm sounds like another Geitner who actually was confirmed. He couldn't even report his earnings properly and he is in charge of our money... hmmmm and look at the fiasco he is creating? Sum it up... Obama hasn't got a clue... Trial and error is his road. Also remember that the current Democrates have been in power for the past two years... they are the cause of our economic mess... check them out.....

THE ONLY THING EASYER TO RIG THAN A SLOT MACHINE IS A SURVEY
A response to "chitown" and the " Survey"............
Point by Point....... Point (1) Chitown sights an "informal survey" The word informal is defined as, " unofficial style"..... Do the words rigged or disingenuous have a roll to play here ? Point (2) Sighting 415 historians... Really??? The New Oxford American Dictionary difines a "historian" as, an expert in or a student of, especially that of a particular period. Wow... there were 415 + historians behind the scenes? 415+ historians have been given access to classified documents or Military, Dept of State, U.N., Fed. Reserve, Congressional, Diplimatical documents???... Point (3) What were the parameters of the " survey ", the questions, ..the context in which the questions were asked, ...the political affiliations, ...the source of the interviewee's information ? ect. ect. Point (4) Chitowns use of the word " failure " is at the very least.... subjective ! The Bush Administrations suspiciously over looked succsesses, to name a few, are as follows. No attacks on U.S. Soil, Rallied the country and did so without demonizing Muslims, 7 years of economic prosperity, Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession, and deeply shocked as a result of the 9/11 attacks, a crushing defeat of the Tali ban, AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) credited with saving over one million lives.... Moreover, you can go to this web sight and view over 100 possitive accomplishments. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1163304/posts After going to and reviewing the afore listed link, shouldn't we let history and the readers decide if he was a failure? Novel thought eh ?

Gosh, wasn't it Bill Clinton who ran from Somalia with his tail between his legs. Another example of the very short memory of liberals. Same asw WMD that all of a sudden became a problem for Bush . If I remember correctly this was being spouted during the Clinton Adaminstration
sam
Is there noi end to what can be blamed on Mr Bush and his administration.
Soon Global warming will be added. I'm so sick of Bush bashing that I could SCREAM!!!!!
sam

No, Clinton didn't leave somalia with his tail between his legs, it was due to a republican led congress at the very strong urging of Bob Dole that we leave somalia. You need to get your facts straight. I don't mind you laying blame where it belongs but do it with facts not hatred or from drinking the green koolaid.
Frankly
You are so rifht RWSmith! But... We can not give up we need to fire these ELECTED PIRATES and their little dog PALOSI.... Stand up and take back our country! VOTE Them OUT!

Hey genius! Obama's tax cut is not a tax cut. It is a reduction in your minimum withholding on your federal taxes. This means that if you got a refund last year, you won;t get one for this tax year or you will have to pay in because you paid less in taxes throughout the year. Just a matter of simple redistribution that you liberals are so fond of.

The Democrats in congress are sick. How do adults with ears and
a brain keep electing these people who are filled with so much hate.

It was clinton who turned chicken and ran away from somalia.
What gives - Bush is now taking on the blame for clinton?
Maybe, it was Bush that met with lewinski?

Let's not blame anyone and get this country back on the right track. Some people are to blame for believing anything they are told. We need to remember we are the ones that voted all these wonderful people into office. We give them our money to spend anyway they want. Wake up and do something other than talk about it, like Obama does. Go to a tea party stand up to what you believe In, not what they want you to believe In.
Frankly
I blame President Bush for being the one who has given Africa the most money by anyone on EARTH, and for killing terrorists, providing homes, food and money to all the people who needed it after hurricanes, wildfires, earfhquakes, mud slides, tidal waves. I mean really... Thanks for all that Mr. President!

Feingold just reading from the Liberal Party Little Book. Let's throw a gazillion dollars at these skinnys in an effort to drag then into the 21st century. Hell, look how well it has work in this country, affirmative action, welfare, entitlements, they have done wonders for the skinnys in this country. Look at the social fruits we have received; Violence, slavery to drugs, slavery to ignorance, rap music, ACORN. Great return on the investment!

It was Bush's fault Jesus was put on the cross. It was also his fault the Titanic sank. The reason I received a spanking by my 5th grade teacher, yep it was Bush's fault. The decline of the polar bears has Bush's name all over it. If it were not for Bush, Hitler would have never invaded Europe.
Does anybody out there realize that the last two years of George Bush's administration there was a Democratic Congress with the lowest approval rating in history, and most of those same morons are still there.

There were several things I didn't agree with during George Bush's eight years in office; however, George Bush is from a vanishing generation that takes responsibility for their own actions, doesn't feel entitled that the government give him special favors and/or hand outs, and isn't engulfed in "touchy feely/I want everyone to love me and should love me" self-absorption. I hope and pray that the main stream media and millions of Americans who see Barck Obama through "rose-tinted" glasses will see that Barack Obama's change is not the change we need for the United States.
George Bush refuses to malign Barack Obama, and that shows his respect and maturity that Mr. Obama clearly lacks.
