Bishop Bans Rep. Kennedy From Communion
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin has banned Rep. Patrick Kennedy from receiving Communion, the central sacrament of the church, in Rhode Island because of the congressman's support for abortion rights, Kennedy said in a newspaper interview published Sunday.
The decision by the outspoken prelate, reported on The Providence Journal's Web site, significantly escalates a bitter dispute between Tobin, an ultra orthodox bishop, and Kennedy, a son of the nation's most famous Roman Catholic family.
"The bishop instructed me not to take Communion and said that he has instructed the diocesan priests not to give me Communion," Kennedy told the paper in an interview conducted Friday.

Abortion is U.S. law. If the bishop has a problem with abortion he should campaign against it...the statement about running for office was facetious. I wasn't suggesting that the legal system had anything to do with anything...didn't even mention it. I said that the bishop was passing judgement because he's against abortion (and he should be against it). But it is God who'll Kennedy will be answering to. By not administering the sacriment the bishop put himself between God and Kennedy. I am pro-life. But I don't think that the bishop should make that call.

The good Bishop had to make the call before the government tries to "bail out" the Catholic church. Hmm...... or does the Catholic church need a bailout? I know the Catholic church hasn't been perfect (either have I really?) but as Christians they believe in the Trinity, so I would look at this as a positive. God bless America.
