Obama To Congress: Back Off Hasan Probe
In the aftermath of the massacre at Fort Hood and the deaths of fourteen people, some members of Congress demanded investigations into why the Army and the FBI failed to identify and stop Major Nidal Malik Hasan before he had an opportunity to commit mass murder. Some of the revelations from Hasan's past, including communications with an al-Qaeda recruiter in Yemen, have Rep. Pete Hoekstra and Sen. Joe Lieberman promising to conduct separate investigations into the failure of counterterrorism efforts. President Obama warned Congress to stay out of it, at least until the FBI finishes investigating the shootings:
President Barack Obama on Saturday urged Congress to hold off on any investigation of the Fort Hood rampage until federal law enforcement and military authorities have completed their probes into the shootings at the Texas Army post, which left 13 people dead.

I understand what you mean. They don't need more evidence of a crime. Maybe they are looking for more "whack jobs" or proof of infiltration. The chances of Congress or others asking questions or prodding or mucking up a serious investigation are high. Probably better to let the FBI finish first.

Obama can control DOD and DOJ investigations, but he can't control congress all the time. Even with a democratic majority, senators and reps ca get their questions on the record. This is why we have 3 branches of government - for a balance of power. This incident should be investigated from all sides.

Why have you gone to such lengths to blame, crucify, accuse and try to publicly prosecute the CIA, the FBI, and the entire former administration?
Why are you intervening into a Congressional investigation into a Muslim terrorist who, according to the Dallas newspapers, wanted to have the young men and women who went to him for help - tried as war criminals? Of course, his colleagues told their superiors...but then, political correctness kept them from saying anything.
Why, Mr. Obama, are you bringing these pathetic terrorists to New York to be tried, knowing that every policeman, fireman and resident will have to relive that horrble day...and be in heightened danger with these terrorists on our soil?
