Reaction to Japan Bow Left Obama 'Speechless'
President Obama's bow to Japan's Emperor Akihito in Tokyo earlier this month ignited anger from some conservatives who complained, in the words of blogger Donald Douglass, that the United States "now willingly prostrates itself before the rest of the world."
Now the president is responding – kind of. The Atlantic quotes "a US government official who was on the trip" who says the president was left "speechless" by the controversy.
"Obama's attitude was, this is an elderly gentleman in a country where this kind of greeting is customary," said the official. "It does not seem extraordinary to show this kind of gesture to him."

Imagine....for years all these liberals warned of a totalitarian conservative government, but what we have is a totalitarian socialist government and they don't mind one bit. They see FOX as being so clearly different, but they can't think objectively enough to deduce that it's because FOX is not part of the socialist machine. - Obummer was elected, this is true. The mob of "czars" that he has put into place were not elected, were not part of the package when this election happened, and the electorate did not even get any say in the matter. This is fine in the role for which this postion is supposed to act, that being advice within a field of expertise for the POTUS.
The only problem that myself (and a lot of other Americans) have with this is that these people are not advising Obummer (they are making decisions and policies on their own, such as the recent spate about restricting what various upper management in bailed-out companies will be paid, where the TARP money is going and why nobody is allowed to know this, this list can go on and on) and they seem to have no expertise for their positions(Weapons Czar - Ashton Carter wamts ALL private weapons destroyed; TARP Czar - Herb Allison ran Fannie Mae into the ground as the CEO, helping cause the financial meltdown last year, is now in charge of the 'cure':; Regulatory Czar - Cass Sunstein wants to, among other things, "reformulate the First Amendment" so that the government can "steer people's decisions" while maintaining 'free choice'; this list can also go on and on).

I think that Pres. Obama has spent alot of his life around educated people who know more about the world, and other countries, than most Americans.
Obama is getting shocked by the aggressive ignorance and rage of a huge group of Americans - white, older, not as successful, less educated, less traveled, etc, that he did not really ever know existed before. I think Obama is getting an eductaion in his own country now, and that eductaion is really pretty awful.
We're out here, we hate you, and everytjing about you. We have never been to another country unless its to a resort, and we don't care one iota about what other people do, think, want, etc. We don't want to learn. We just want things to go our way, even though we are not competitive any more. We hate the way things are, and YOU-Obama- represent the way things are in the world today.

America is still the greatest nation on the face of this planet (IMHO), and should show deference to nobody. Honor and respect yes, by all means.
What Obummer apparently does not get, is that the bow is a sign of welcome servitude, initiated by the person of lower standing towards the person who is in the position of authority. The deeper the bow, the more subservient the person. It is then acknowledged by the superior by returning the gesture.

Henri....you still can't read. The poll you noted had nothing to do with Obama's almost falling over in front of someone. A courteous nod, as in a slight bow of the head is diplomatically OK. Bending over like Barney Frank in front of a foreign leader is a sign of weakness (among other things).

Here's the question: "When the president of the United States is traveling overseas, do you think it is appropriate for him to bow to a foreign leader if that is the country’s custom or is it never appropriate for the president to bow to another leader?
You guys on the right have been insisting that the President of the United States should NEVER bow to a world leader. Face it, you guys are way out on the limb on this one.
