Chris Matthews, on Thursday's Hardball, took GOP Congresswoman Virginia Foxx to task for claiming that Republicans "passed civil rights bills in the sixties" as he accused her of having a bad memory, going as far as to compare her to one of the androids from the science fiction classic Blade Runner. National Voting Rights Act of 1965:
Senate: 77–19
* Democrats: 47–17 (73%-27%)
* Republicans: 30–2 (94%-6%)
House: 333–85
* Democrats: 221–61 (78%-22%)
* Republicans: 112–24 (82%-18%)
The Dems did have more votes, but the Republicans had a far greater percentage voting for it.

I think Chris knows his "anchor days" are getting down to a precious few, and he is trying to become a "shock jock" with some of his absurd remarkes. It is pretty well accepted that "progs" are not well informed on poltiical history, so they will believe anything the "plantation party" tells them! Actually, Mr. Matthews, in both the House and Senate a HIGHER PERCENTAGE of Republicans voted for Civil Rights legislation (over 80%) than Democrats (mid-60%). Sounds like Ms. Foxx may have been right.
