Does Maureen Dowd write like a giddy, mean-spirited, semi-literate, adolescent of low-average intelligence because she realizes that that is the only way she can be understood by democrats, or because she just can't do any better?
I recently read a fair sampling of her columns out of curiosity and because I'm trying to understand by what, if any, thought processes democrats reach the conclusions upon which they base their political philosophy. The first thing that occurred to me is that her writing is spotty and often only borderline intelligible. She supports her opinions with vague, obscure, out-of-context references to second-hand testimonials; undisciplined, adolescent name calling; and, of course, the aversion to facts and logical analysis that has become the hallmark of all political discourse by democrats everywhere. She writes with the style and quality typical of mediocre high school newspapers. She writes and thinks the way she writes and thinks because she has the mind of a democrat and none of them can do any better.

"Because of the lack of education in the US population she might just pull it off. There are enough people who see the world in black and white terms with simplistic minds that would vote for her and her incoherent babbling persona!"
Poor misguided N.Y. Times reader, guess this might as well be the statement for how B.O. got elected. Like how about the world in fuzzy terms like "Hope and Change"? How about the stupidity of buying into that? Oh, that's right, Liberals are idealists, not ignoramuses.

What's to compare Timmy? Ya, it's really educational news. And btw, ALL papers are having a hard time. In case you missed it, we're in the midst of a digital revolution and you can expect that the paper will, one day, in printed form, cease to exist, but the new gathering apparatus will continue to deliver fine produced in-depth quality journalism. You see LEWFARGE you go and prove my point. You have your hands over your ears you're yelling, "lalalalalal". Learn to be a critical news consumer and don't simply reject anything because BILL tells you to. I mean, all news operations have an agenda to one degree or another. Fox is the mouth piece for the GOP. MSNBC is the mouth piece for the DEMs. The rest are corporate money making machines and will blow whichever direction the money flows. You need to learn to separate the wheat from the chaff. I'm not a great fan of FOX news in general, but I think Shep Smith and Meagan Kelly are great. Because I think Hannity is a fool and Beck is boarder-line insane, that doesn't keep me from catching Shep when he's on, or periodically listening to what Sean and Glenn have to froth about. You see? Why would I throw out an entire network because someone tells me to, when I can judge for myself? If anything these days (in an era of concentrated media ownership) we need MORE voices, not fewer, so I would suggest instead of boycotting everything Bill tells you to, judge for yourself. To do that, you actually need to READ the NYTs, and then you actually need to THINK about what you read and not just react to gut instincts. that's how you grow.

When will the American Public see the Left for the Eletist Snobs they are. NYC and LA news sources are all for themselves. If someone does not belong to their club, they are attacked. The Ivy Leaguers, the Left Thinkers have placed themselves above John Q and placate the public with their condescendence. They only talk to each other because no one else is on their pedestal. And DC plays with these people and most belong to them. They play up celebreties as long as they follow their crumbs, but will not engage with anyone outside their circus tent. How long will the American Public stand for this garbage? When will they see hole that they are digging for themselves by listening and voting for this trash?

Expat, you say you don't like Fox news, but don't deny its influence. Let's compare fox news viewership, to the laughingstock NYT subscribers! Are you laughing yet?
Ex Pat
What's to compare Timmy? Quality versus Quantity? 4 million NASCAR fans watch Bill Oreally every night. and I admit, he's entertaining at times (that would explain his CABLE raitings), what with the "body language" segments to analyze hard news, and of course with the Culture Quiz with those really REALLY tough hard news hitting questions like "who is the FONZ". You see, I'm not afraid of any one source of news like you, nor to I cheerlead the fall of ANY news organization (Fox included). I can read, watch and listen to a wide array of opinions and reports, I can even entertain those I don't like, and in the end, I'll come to my own conclusions about things. Can you say the same?
DESTROY THE LEFT
NYT and quality "journalism" in the same sentence? Truly you have made me laugh this morning. Do you actually read that?
Ex Pat

NYT does not qualify as a news source. It is a one sided propaganda rag

"Narcssistic Personality Disorder" - I'm surprised Dowd would include this in her column knowing that application of the characteristics of this disorder would more accurately describe the current president than Sarah Palin.

Guess expat is not quite so smart or he/she would not even respond to some of the things said about it..

Ex Pat calls the Huffpo a site with intelligent comment? University level? All I saw was playground politics with mob rule that doesn't allow for criticism of their fellow libs. It's a regular lovefest and heaven forbid anyone should post on the blind leading the blind, only libs get their say on the Huffpo.

Again, a prime example of ignorance. baseless accusations without citation or examples. Maureen's article maybe caustic, but she does indeed provide a plethora of proof to her concerns, whereas YOU'VE done nothing of the sort. A factually devoid rant without a single example. And you wonder why us "Liberal Elitists: question your authority on just about anything?

Dowd offers proof to her concerns? Her only concern was to further trash Palin, at which she succeeds. To call this article anything but caustic, as you have, thanks, is to read more into it than is there. This rant is no different than any other anti-Palin rant I have read or heard.

Silly old Ex Pat, why would I want to give examples of how many times my posts have not made it on the Huffpo. It would take too long, I'll humor you though, I was at that site before I came here. Numerous articles about Palin, a vertible treasure trove of obsessive "intelligent (lol)" contributors. Posts glorifying the contributors, and gee whiz, my posts that point out how their bloggers are making a buck off Palin never seem to make it. What's wrong with that comment? They are making their lifes work about Palin, an accurate point of view when you look at their bios. I guess that point is just too painful to print for the Huffpo.

Ex Pat
Sadly Georgia, I've tried three times to post about being a proud Liberal Elitist and WHY I am so proud. Without using any profanity, the moderators of this site have still seen fit to relinquish that post to the digital trash heap, which is indeed a shame. I don't see the word ELITIST as being pejorative, and if the moderators of this site would indeed adhere to the first amendment and allow ALL of my posts through, you'd see an explanation with greater detail. It may not please you, but oh well.
Ex Pat
Maybe if you refrained from comments like "getting their ROCKS off" you'd find your posts allowed. Leeches? And you question their moderation criteria?
