"Politicians of both parties stray. The Democrats actually seem to punish their strayers more harshly." First off you have to get them to admit they did anything wrong. Usually the DEMs won't admit it until they can't deny it anymore, and even then they try to avoid it. REPs generally fess up right away and usually step down

Bill Clinton was still impeached by the House, but not convicted in the Senate. The majority of Dems favored an official Censure of President Clinton over the highly partisan, Republican-led impeachment. Still, he was punished.
John Edwards cheated on his cancer stricken wife and is finished in politics.
Newt Gingrich cheated on his cancer stricken wife and is a viable 2012 candidate.
Rudy Giuliani cheated and was a candidate in 2008.
Gary Hart cheated and his candidacy was finished.
