Does anyone want to talk about the "most current" issue from Washington; fixing the financial system? Why is it no one has said anything about repealing Graham-Leach-Bliley or Community Reinvestment? In my opinion, that would be the beginning of some decent reform! All the other garbage that is coming out of Washington since yesterday is just muddying the waters even more than they already are.

Phil Graham got us into this financial catastrophe by pushing through legislation that deregulated our financial system. Oh thats right, he called us a nation of whiners when we all started losing our jobs, health insurance, our homes. All in the name of free market and capitalism. Good Job Phil!

Actually, we've had federal regulators right along.They weren't doing their jobs. Also, if I may respond to your later post. Jesus did indeed say we should care for the poor. He never said it was O.K. to find a legal means to rob people. I think by virtue of the fact that we have a commandment that bans theft, it says that people are entitled to keep what they've earned.

A common problem I've noticed here is that people confuse opinions with facts. I watch all the news channels and they all report the same facts. Though no one should ever get all their news from only one source. MSNBC is heavy on liberal commentary and Fox is heavy on the conservative side. But when Hannity says we are all doomed, then that's an opinion. Just because you agree with it doesn't make it a fact.

The greatest power in this country is the power of the press. It has been proven this last election cycle. If the people are not given ALL OF THE FACTS, decisions are then flawed and we end up with what we have now. It's a matter of how the press chooses to package the info. The tone, choice of descriptive words, angle of the camera, and choice of pictures all are chosen by biased individuals not professional "reporters". It is so obvious when you watch left-leaning MSM that they always pick the most flattering things for Dems. and the most unflattering for Rep. Fox News is a refreshing breath of unbiased TRUTH. I watch them cast all sides in an equal light. Granted BO appears to be criticized, but it's not criticism, it's simply letting the people know what the mistake in the White House is actually doing. It's understandable that BO doesn't like Fox. They expose him for what he is . BO knows that when the American people see that, he is burnt toast and his narcissistic ego is shattered. Just imagine how Germany could have been saved if the people had been given the truth about the Third Reich!

My cousin was diagnosed with MS a couple of years ago and has had to constantly fight his private insurance company in all the ways you describe government health care. I hope you never find yourself in that position. I actually already have a government plan through Tricare (I'm retired military) and have never been denied care. Sorry to have to fill you in on reality.

So, Steve...how's that 25% unemployment working for you there in Michigan? How's the new Government Motors working for you? How do you feel about the proposed government health care system, dictating to you what doctor you can see, the government deciding IF you need that life-saving operation, denying you the meds you need to sustain a healthier life because they're just too expensive? If you are fortunate enough to have a job, how do you like giving 61% of your wages to the government? All of this is happening now, being debated on. Your children and grandchildren will be paying back this multi-trillion-dollar debt, created by the CURRENT administration.
