Marriage was a strictly legal matter for a long time, when parents were arranging a dowry for their daughters, and women were traded like cattle. Marriage is a union, civil when granted by the state, religious when granted by the church, but as all marriages in the US are granted by the state, even when they are conducted in a church, trying to exclude homosexuals is flawed.

I personally have a problem with Carrie Prejean because of two reasons, first she keeps winning that she lost Miss USA because of her answer, but according to one of the judges she was not ahead, and was probably was going to lose anyways. It was also a stupid answer, what the h*ll is “opposite marriage,” and she said that people have a right to chose, but this is incorrect, gays only have a right to choose in 5 out of 50 states. Second, but as Miss California, her job is to represent all Californians, and she should not endorse any divisive wedge social or political position, because that implies the Miss California Pageant Organization supports that issue. I really do not care what here stance is on anything, and after she has served her term she has every right to do what she wants, but stop clambering for the spotlight, and then sulking when you are attacked as an opportunist.
