N.Y. Archbishop Condemns Maureen Dowd
New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan has condemned The New York Times -- blasting the Gray Lady and its columnist Maureen Dowd for what he says are examples of unfair, prejudicial and just downright mean anti-Catholicism.
Dolan used his blog last Thursday on the Archdiocese of New York's Web site to rail against the Times a day after the paper refused to print his critique as an op-ed piece.
He singled out Dowd -- a poison-penned, Pulitzer winner and former Catholic-school girl -- for "the most combustible," "intemperate and scurrilous" "diatribe" she wrote on Oct. 25, which "rightly never would have passed muster with the editors had it so criticized an Islamic, Jewish or African-American religious issue."

Charles, Please stop being so ugly. You really are not trying to say that the Catholic church is the only institution that had problems with child molesters - you can find FACTS showing the problems have been in virtually every religious institution, every school system, public group, childrens groups, military, and has touched many families. I think the 'liberal' attitude for tolerating these behaviors led to the spread of such. This country has lost it's moral compass - thank GOD we have leaders like Archbishop Dolan coming out to speak and stand for decency and morality - maybe some non-practicing Catholics who have aligned with the liberal left and abandoned their faith will find their way home, we re here with open hearts and will pray for them. We pray for you too charles.

Thank you Archbishop Dolan for speaking out - I am so tired of our church stating silent while the Catholic bashing continues. They don't bash the convenient Catholics who don't live their faith or vote their faith, the embrace non-practicing Catholics who stray from the church teachings on life issues and morality. I plan to proudly display symbols of my faith and publicly speak out when my faith is attacked. I plan to ask questions of politicians to ensure they are conservatives and hold family, faith and morality as important issues. I plan to demand my freedom of speech and protection from persecution for practicing my faith in every area of my life. I will ask my church to be more outspoken about issues such as abortion, government redistribution by force and politicians claiming to be catholic but denying the tenets of our faith.
