William R. "Willie" Horton (born August 12, 1951) is an American convicted felon who, while serving a life sentence for murder, without the possibility of parole, was the beneficiary of a Massachusetts weekend furlough program. He did not return from his furlough, and ultimately he committed assault, armed robbery and rape. A political advertisement in support of the candidacy of George H.W. Bush during the 1988 U.S. Presidential race was critical of the Democratic nominee, Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, for his support of the program.

Huckabee is done, which doesn't bother me because I never liked hin in the first place. He had a large number of these cases and pardoned many more than Governors of similar states. There's no way he can get out from under this one, whether it's right or wrong is irrelevant now. Remember Willie Horton, if not google him and see what's in Mike's future.

Reducing a guys sentence to 47 years behind bars 11 years ago hardly qualifies Huckabee to be the bad guy in this case. Now, if you want to hang Huckabee, jump on the number of times he allowed taxes to be raised while governor. This guy was a liberal when it came to raising taxes and spending.

This is, unfortunately, Gov. Huckabee's, Michael Dukakis's Willie Horton moment, which in 1988, derailed Michael Dukakis's Presidential campaign against Vice President G.H.W. Bush, in 1988.
-
Gov. Huckabee will most likely not be running for president again... this was supposed to be his tough on crime issue as a republican...
but, not any more.. unfortunately, especially for the 4 police officers and their families...
-
That's exactly what happened to Gov. Mike Dukakis of Massachusetts , when he pardoned Willie Horton, who went on to murder other people after being released by Gov. Dukakis.

The only person to blame for the shooting is the shooter. Huckabee, the judges, and others in the system may have some responsibility for their mistakes in failing to keep Clemmons off the street or even recognizing how dangerous he was, but hindsight is always 20/20.
-
As for the interview, Bill O'Reilly is a disingenuous windbag. First, he got the bail amount wrong. Even the Fox News story reported the bail correctly at $150,000. Clemmons only had to pay 10% which might be where commentator O'Reilly got his $15,000 number. Later he says the two judges "will be held accountable" just because they did not return his phone calls. What a joke. And then, when Huckabee comes on, "no spin zone Bill" greets him with, "Thanks for being a stand up guy, Governor." And Huckabee's "explaination" is that he commuted the sentence WITHOUT EVER HEARING FROM THE PROSECUTION. Then why commute the sentence? What was the hurry? The guy certainly wasn't going anywhere. But of course Bill O'Reilly gives him a complete pass. Yep, no spin there. Instead, bully Bill directs his anger at the two judges and again presents the wrong bail amount. It's easy to see why O'Reilly is a commentator and not a journalist.

You are aware Bill O was correct about the bail amount aren't you? In Washington state you are required to only post 10% cash for bail, hence a $150,000 bail would only require $15,000 cash. I guess MSNBC didn't want you to know that little fact.......

@Vietnam Veteran
You obviously didn't even bother to read my post first. I stated that Clemmons only had to pay 10% of the total bail. Bill O was WRONG multiple time when he announced the bail. It was $150,000 not $15,000. Billy stated the amount paid as if it was the actual bail, maybe on purpose to try to make the judges look worse. Maybe you should just stick to your copy-and-paste routine. You're better at it than actual commenting.
