Shooting Rampage at Fort Hood: Why Did It Happen?
Military officials were starting Friday to piece together what may have pushed an Army psychiatrist trained to help soldiers in distress to turn on his comrades in a shooting rampage that killed 13 people and wounded 30 in Texas.
Authorities raided the apartment of suspected shooter Major Nidal Malik Hasan early Friday in a search for clues, as another victim died from injuries suffered during the worst mass killing on a U.S. military base.
Hasan was on a ventilator and unconscious in a hospital after being shot four times during the shootings at the Army's sprawling Fort Hood, post officials said. In the early chaos after the shootings, authorities believed they had killed him, only to discover later that he had survived.
Federal law-enforcement agents ordered an evacuation of the apartment complex where Hasan lived in Killeen, Texas, and conducted a search of his home, said Hilary Shine, director of public information for the city. She didn't say what was found during the search.
Officials said earlier that federal search warrants were being drawn up to authorize the seizure of his computer.
Before Thursday's shooting, Hasan reportedly gave away all of his furniture along with copies of the Koran to neighbors, KXXV-TV reported.
Authorities have not ruled out that Hasan was acting on behalf of some unidentified radical group, a senior U.S. official in Washington said. He would not say whether any evidence had come to light to support that theory.

If Bush "got rid of them," why didn't he tell anyone? If any had been found, Bush/Cheney would have put it all over the the news. I'm sure a lot of stuff was found and destroyed but I haven't heard of any credible evidence of WMD's.

As America wakes up to FOX news reporting of this incident I listen to the sensationalist rhetoric that the presenters are using toward American muslims. I am a catholic Australian and I fear that the sensationalism that the presenters are using to report this incident will put at risk the lives of other muslim americans. Fox news stop what you are doing and report the facts and stop swaying your rhetoric toward a terrorist muslim bent before you know what has happened or you will be to blame for the reprisals and retributions of other misinformed individuals.
