Obama Tells Feds to Chill Out on Marijuana Enforcement

The Obama administration will not seek to arrest medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws, under new policy guidelines to be sent to federal prosecutors Monday.

Two Justice Department officials described the new policy to The Associated Press, saying prosecutors will be told it is not a good use of their time to arrest people who use or provide medical marijuana in strict compliance with state laws.

The new policy is a significant departure from the Bush administration, which insisted it would continue to enforce federal anti-pot laws regardless of state codes.

A liberals idea of a free society : Sitting in a home paid for by the government watching their favorite reality show on a government run channel on a TV paid for by the government with a bag of marijuana on their lap and a joint in their mouth supplied by the government. Next to them on the table is a hundred page crisis hot line book provided by the government with 24 hour assistance on subjects ranging from marijuana prescription forms to gay and lesbian services. Other items of interest include government run child indoctrination and toll free numbers to anonymously turn in anticommunist and antisocialist gatherings.

The war on drugs has been going on seemingly forever with no good outcome. The crooks and the cartels are making all the money and we are throwing money down a hole trying to change that. I am all for taxing it and decriminalizing it for the greater good. We will not stop it and that has been amply proven. Our prison overcrowding will be solved and beds will be available for the real bad guys

This is one issue I will side with Barry the Appeaser on as much as I hate it. There are much much bigger things to worry about and weed isnt one of them and it's been proven to be a medicinal aid to people unlike alchohol. It wastes the police and courts time and fills up the jails and prisons with minor offenders when they should be going after the hard drugs out there. And the reason it was criminalized to begin with is based on racism against Mexicans. Furthermore pot smokers are non violent unless your a pizza.

One thing for sure, ALL these RADICAL czars and cabinet members are no coinsidence. Drugies
The people of the US didn't really start hating Bush because he started a war in Iraq, the UN started that because Bush didn't do what they wanted him to do.
The UN is pushing for ONE-WORLD GOVERNMENT and they will be the Leaders of it all.
BO is just a pawn for them and he is really pleasing them.
50 days, Dec. 2009, UN in Copenhagen GLOBAL CLIMATE TREATY - will change our world forever. Look it up.

I have never smoked marijuana. I'd probably like it and I have enough bad habits already. I have been around it, though. I think legalizing, regulating and taxing it makes more sense than wasting all the money we spend on trying to stop it. Just like with Prohibition, the criminals are making all the money, and laws didn't stop the sale of alcohol. This is the first and only thing I have agreed with the President about, and he doesn't take it far enough.

I mean while they have given the tobacco industry the boot here in America so overseas industries could flourish, why not get everybody hooked on pot and more overseas industries can pop up and flourish while we all light up so we can stand the dictator's boot up our you know what?

it is not totally harmless, eating it reducince the harm massivly to almost nill
you can not overdose on it thats simply not possible.
it does have proven links to mentall illness but only in people predisposed to these conditions.
then there is the fact that it has huge benifits for somepeople suffering various other conditions.
problem is it would be political suicide to try and legalise it.

Oh my Goodness!!! What is happening to our America? Have we all lost all sense of morality, lawfulness, and senses? This is the most outrageously, hideous, evil person we have ever had in the office of president. I just cannot call him my president because I am against every single policy coming from his administration. I simply cannot believe any God-fearing person can in any way support this man - including every person who may have voted for him. I can certainly say that I DID NOT because I did not and still do not agree with anything BEFORE AND HENCE HIS ELECTION. He and his constituents have all LIED, CHEATED, AND MADE OUR COUNTRY LOOK AS IF WE ARE ALL ON OUR KNEES BOWING TO HIM - NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!! NOT ME!!! This man and his administration - from Pelosi AND Biden ALL THE WAY DOWN - have got to go. I pray to God daily for our nation. I pray that obama will have his eyes opened to seeing what he is doing to our country and that we AS AMERICANS - UNITED - will do what needs to be done to regain OUR control of OUR country. I am in full 100% of WHATEVER NEEDS TO BE DONE TO TAKE OUT COUNTRY AWAY FROM THIS ADMINISTRATION. This administration is ruining us. We will keep pushing against this EVIL. GOD ALWAYS HONORS WHAT IS HONEST. That which is evil or of evil cannot stand but for a short time.

yeah god did, but man adds chemicals to poppies to create opiates. Poppies are in alot of things such as on hot dog and hamburger buns, that doesnt mean its going to get you high. same thing with coke (coming from cocoa leaves), heroin, meth, ect. Weed is the only naturally grown illegal substance with no additives, unlike legal cigs and chew with big tobacco adding harsh chemicals such as cyanide to create a more addictive substance.
