The Department of Defense has compelled a private employer to fire a U.S. Army Reserve major from his civilian job after he had his military deploymentorders revoked for arguing he should not be required to serve under a president who has not proven his eligibility for office.

A simple, but significant question to everyone: If BHO's citizenship is in question, then why are the records in "lockdown" and unavailable to a Freedom of Information Request? If the original Birth Certificate is legitimate, then why doesn't he produce it for all the world to see? We all know that the one that has been on display is produced from a Laser Printer that was not even invented back in 1961. The public is not stupid. If he can't or won't produce a valid birth certificate, then he has not proven that he is a natural born citizen of the USA and therefore ineligible to hold the office he is now in.

The guy is not a member of the Armed Services. He's employed by a private corporation and worked for the DoD under contract, so the normal rules for Army officers aren't applicable. He volunteered for this particular duty and could have "unvolunteered" at any time.

@ CMB Yes, you can volunteer for a deployment (which is what he did and that which I was referring to) and according to the Army, you can simply ask to have the orders for said deployment rescinded at any time.

Wrong! He is a reservist, you can't just unvolunteert! His orders were revoked from higher up (his commander couldn't have done that). He was called up with his reserve unit. His civilian job was with a company that works with the DOD. Mysteriously, he lost his civilian job under pressure from the DOD (a gov. program). When you are a reservist, you can NOT "unvolunteer" at any time! My husband is one, I know!

Has anyone realized that the soldier (Private Bowe Bergdahl) captured in Afghanistan is in a terrible situation? His captors have released video of him and the US has condemned that video. However, given the release of the pictures of willful mistreatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib under the Bush administration our responses are severely limited. Shame that Bush and Cheney failed to condemn the treatment and the CO was simply demoted a rank. Now we all pay the price of poor management.

The judge ordered this case to trial and the next day, lo and behold his orders are rescinded ...why? well if the case goes to trial then evidence needs to be presented...hmmm....rather than having to do that wouldn't it just be easier to give him what he wants and revoke the orders? so they did and therefore the judge says you got what you wanted so no need to go to trial anymore...dismissed. Looks like someone dodged a potential judicial order to have to present evidence.
