Swine Flu! Should We Close Mexican Border?
The "swine flu" that has infected more than 1,000 people in Mexico has led a lawmaker on the House Homeland Security Committee to call on U.S. officials to close the southern border. Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) said the border should be closed until the threat is resolved.

Suicidal terrorists infect themselves with a flu stew. They then head to Janet Napolitano's second favorite border and cross into the US after intentionally infecting thousands, er...hundreds, er...a few poor Mexicans just to throw us off the track. But, all is not lost. Enter Jane: a warped-minded, disgraced research exterminator (formerly with the RAID folks). Can she show restore her integrity and save the world?

Isn't the Surgeon General responsible for speaking out on national health issues? Instead, Ms Napolitano is putting her hoof in mouth on this issue? On the other hand, this would be a legitimate reason, from the left's point of view, to enforce border security: to protect their children from the dreaded sure death of swine flu.

They are just now checking people traveling by buses too so the problem is that most people who are visiting family in Mexico often use this method or their own vehicles so there are people still slipping through...someone can have the virus and not show symptoms till the next day or few days later and by then...spread it to others and it rises exponentially.
This is airborne (coughs) and by touch (hands); Everytime you touch a doorknob or table anywhere, there are probably 20 other people who have touched it, and many may cough in their hands and not have washed it before opening or closing the door knob...think about pushing open the door at a fast food restaurant, you don't know if someone sick has touched that glass door or not.

Did you ever read "The Stand"? Phoenix local news aired an interview of a man traveling from Mexico on a bus. Passengers had been issued masks in Mexico, and were told they would be checked at their destination in the U.S. That did not happen. So every passenger removed their mask, and each proceeded to their destination ......

I heard today that "O" is showing signs of having swine flu ---his symptoms are diarrhea & fever.

Did you hear California Rep. Sanchez talking to Geraldo? She said our Border Patrol is trained to be able to tell if someone crossing the border is ill. So don't worry about a thing folks. With people like Sanchez and Napolitano looking after us why close the border.

Getting the flu isn't funny or a hoax...there is nothing funny when someone has respiratory damage due to a virus that keeps attacking and the body is unable to fight it. It's not a comfortable feeling and rather a slow agony. People are seriously ill and it's not funny when it affects close members or oneself....worse if not able to be treated in time.

I think Obama should have hung "Little Welcome Bags" along the Border fence every 500 yards. Each illegal could receive one of these as they SNEAK into the Country. In each bag would include:
1. Disinfective Wipes
2. A Protective Face Mask
3. a list of All the FREE MEDICAL Walk-in facilities
4. the address of the nearest ACORN satellite office so they can REGISTER to vote.

Biggest problem with the illegals is the type of strain they will bring with them, they are not necessarily known for their health just look at how many of them have TB.

Of course the Mexican border should be closed! The Swine Flu is just a sampling of what else could happen because of the American government's ignorance and stupidity. The first step in stopping the spread of disease is to stop the source. The U.S. has lost it's common sense and is putting everyone here in America at risk!

I agree the government is putting every citizen at risk and have been from many decades. But it is not ignorance and stupidity. No matter what party you vote for, the government, I think, long ago decided that since the American voter was clinging much too tightly to the Constitution and the backward concept of ‘national sovereignty. They would solve the problem by importing a new group to voters and teaching them to cling to their culture and country. After all, America has a lot to be ‘sorry’ for and the elite political class can’t act fast enough to re-write the Constitution.

It doesn't make sense to restrict travel to Mexico, when thousand of illegals are pouring over the border daily. How do you stop the spread of the flu if you don't close the border.

One way to stop the massive illegal crossing would be to position sniper towers ever 500 yards or so and tell them to shoot any northbound crossings into the country.
