Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), using exceptionally heated language, called the health care bill on Sunday "seedy Chicago politics,” “backroom deals that amount to bribes,” “Enron accounting,” “the worst of Washington,” “phony,” and a “sham,” adding that Obama’s campaign slogan of “change you can believe in, after this health care bill debacle is now becoming an empty slogan.”
Asked it the Senate bill was a done deal, Graham, appearing on CNN's "State of the Union," replied:
“This is far from over. The House and Senate bills are in many ways irreconcilable. But you know, I like David. He ran a brilliant campaign, but they're doing a lousy job governing the country, in my view. You know, change you can believe in, after this health care bill debacle is now becoming an empty slogan. So, Harry Reid can buy Nelson's vote with tax dollars, or maybe it's Nelson buying votes from his state with taxpayer money...either way, that contrasts interestingly with the fact that it is against the law for me to spend more than $2,300 to exercise my constitutional right to petition my government. And, even then, unless I'm a member of the AFL-CIO or Sierra Club, my political contribution is assumed to be intended to buy a favor from the politician.
So, when I freely GIVE MY OWN MONEY to a candidate, it's limited and questioned. But when Sen Nelson TAKES someone else's money and REALLY buys a constituents vote with it, it's just the way legislation happens.

Still "picking away" at prince reids bill...Pg 1020, section C.... "It shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection"..... Already talks of unconstitutional sections (many, many, many....) in the bill. Maybe it can be tied up in courts for years to come. The legal fight has not even started... We live in a different America.

i heard yesterday that if people were financially burdened to pay for health care they wouldn't have to purchase & wouldn't be fined. What really is the purpose of this garbage? How can anyone support getting taxed for this in 2010 but not getting benefits until 4 years down the road? Sometimes I don't even want to stay informed because I cannot stand to even look at these people up on the hill. Dodd, franks, Rangel (why is someone not demanding he step down). This whole adminstration leaves a vile, putrid taste.

CBO confirms double counting of the 500 million to be cut from medicare - Reid claims it will be used to make Medicare solvent, but the deficit reduction for the new health care bill also claims to use it. If not included, even the CBO estimate does not make the health care reform deficit neutral - it increases the deficit.
