House Health Care Vote Could Come Saturday
House Democrats cleared the way Wednesday for a pivotal floor vote on health care overhaul as early as the weekend, after tweaking their 1,900-page bill to crack down harder on insurance companies.
"Americans are ready for comprehensive health insurance reform and the House will soon act," Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said in a statement that accompanied dozens of last-minute changes to the bill, released Tuesday night.
Publication of the changes started a 72-hour legislative clock, meaning that a floor vote could take place as early as Saturday.
But with no Republican backing for the measure, Democrats will need overwhelming support from their own. A festering intra-party disagreement over how to prevent federal funds from being used to pay for abortion remained unresolved Wednesday morning.

The majority out here are hoping that members in the house will spine up and vote nay for this ridiculous bill. Very simple - we do not want this joke of a bill. Let the people vote on which plan we want in the mid-term elections, rather than having something dictated to us. This is still America.

The GOP has a Health Care Plan on their website and it seems to be a good common sense plan...it won't add to the deficit...it's only 200 pages and the CBO is looking at the cost right now.

Picked up my mail today and received notice that my health care premium is going up 38% December 1. My agent said I was just one of many. He said he believes the insurance companies are trying to start now with higher fees to cut their losses when Obama care is instituted. Unfortunately, it is going to send good people who are suffering during tough times to endorse a public health plan who would normally not do so; it may be their only option. I'll be one of them, as 38% is more than I can bear.
