I would also see what part of the constitution allows the president to fire the CEO of an auto company, replace him with his hand picked person, threaten the investors into taking pennies on the dollar and turning most of it over to the union. Gee, I get the feeling that Obama really doesn't care about the constitution.

I really think Obama should send all the CZARS packing we don't need them
they are getting about 175,000 a year Now after they ( CZARS ) are gone he
can put the money that is save and put it into Social Security etc. Also instead
of changing our Health Care System why not take that money and put it into
other programs that will do the most GOOD ?Like Social Security Disabilites
the V.A. etc they all need the money

No one is forcing anyone to buy health insurance. And since one of the tenets or the Constitution is to "promote the general welfare," universal health coverage is constitutional.

The constitution also gives the feds no power to make buying or selling any drug manufactured illegal, but the feds do that all the time, and so-called "conservatives seem to have no problem with this...first you tell me I HAVE to see a doctor to get medicines & thus cannot be my own doctor, and then you turn around and say the government is too involved in the health care business when it mandates that everyone must have access to it...which is it going to be?...either deregulate medicine completely for optimum freedom, or get out of the way of the government option YOUR regulations have made necessary.

NO IT IS NOT... how can you say promoting the GENERAL WELFARE makes it constitutional ??? If you are going to use that as a reason then why not say forcing religion on people is right also. You have no clue. The term "promoting the general welfare" ment that the federal govt. could not stop trade with or between the states. You need to realize that the constitution is a limit on what the federal govt. is allowed to do...

If we look at everything happening in Washington and it doesn't make sense, it's because we're applying the same logic we've always used.
Everything getting pushed through Congress — including this health care bill — is transforming America. And it's all driven by President Obama's thinking on one idea: reparations.
"Oh, you are crazy! President Obama is against reparations. He said so himself."
Yes, he did say that. What the media conveniently ignores is the reason why he is against them. As we we’re warned before the election, he doesn't think they go far enough: "I fear that reparations would be an excuse for some to say, 'We've paid our debt' and to avoid the much harder work."
I had forgotten about Obama's position on reparations until a couple of days ago. It ties everything together. What is that "harder work"?
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: If we have a program, for example, of universal health care, that will disproportionately affect people of color, because they're disproportionately uninsured, if we've got an agenda that says every child in America should get — should be able to go to college, regardless of income, that will disproportionately affect people of color, because it's oftentimes our children who can't afford to go to college.
He believes in all the "universal" programs because they "disproportionately affect" people of color.
And that's the best way, he feels, to right the wrongs of the past. These massive programs are Obama brand reparations or in presidential speak: leveling the playing field.
But, just in case the universal-ness of the programs somehow doesn't quench his reparation appetite, he's making sure to do his part to "pay the debt" in other areas.
Written in the 1,000-plus page bill that no one will read before they vote on it, is a provision that if say, a medical school or other health related institution, pursued a grant or other contract from the government, they would have to prove their inclusiveness of minorities.
On pages 881-882 of the bill it states: "The secretary (of Health and Human Services) shall give preference to entities that have a demonstrated record of the following:
• Training individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups or disadvantaged backgrounds
• A high rate of placing graduates in practice settings having the principal focus of serving in underserved areas or populations experiencing health disparities
• Supporting teaching programs that address the health care needs of vulnerable populations"
Vulnerable populations?

enumeration of powers

10th amendment - imposing upon the states and robbing them of what powers fall to the states outside of the enumerated powers
privacy rights - health records, income tax records

In a very busy E.R. filled with all kinds of injured and sick people, a nurse of many years can tell you that health care reform is going to be horrible for all of us. She has an idea…. Why don’t we let All Registered Americans -vote on this after we read all the details….. Also our elected officials should have to use this plan, if it’s good enough for us, it should be good enough for them…. after all they do work for us and we pay them, they should also be part of Medicare, you do know they have there own retirement plan …. Sounds like a double standard too me….. Call your U.S.Rep.’s, and senators … tell them how you really feel…. Doctors and Nurses are very upset that we haven’t had a part in solving the health care issue…. after all that is they do….. 14 million illegal immigrants get free health care right now … that is a lot of money…. plus another 15-20 million could be in a plan but have not signed up to get coverage….why….mostly because it is a government plan and hard to get into the system!!! Got to run, have a GREAT DAY Everyone…. and GOD Bless America

I watch the whole health care debate and hear everyone ask members of congress whether they will sign on to take the public option on health care. What about government employees. This is the ultimate hypocrisy....I believe that government employees do not pay into social security....have their own health care plans....and are not subject to the layoffs as typical in the private sector. With the vast percentage of workers being government employees.....how can we say government can run anything when government employees don't want to be part of the "public option" in health care or take part in the "grand experiment" of social security for retirement. In the day when most workers are running around with maybe a 401K and hoping to get a reasonable health care plan.....government employees and unions are exempt from being impacted by the obama administration. I say that if obama wants to change these programs.....it should be "ALL IN" like a poker match and all government employees and politicians should be the first to get the "public option" on health care and throw in their balances on their pensions into "social security" to help balance out the program and take part. I will bet you that the obama changes will disappear once unions and government employees realize that they will have to give up their perks and safe guards.

Maybe so Bill, but the problem is that people who choose not to get health insurance will still get medical care if they need it, with the costs passed on to all of us that do have insurance. This "cost shifting" is one of the biggest problems that needs to be addressed.

You know complaining, sniveling, crying, that sort of thing. Or you can just go away? Don’t get us wrong, your welcome here, we offer a type of conservative therapy here. You’ll need to grow up and this site can help. Just get in, shut up and read. We’ll help you quit drinking the kool-aid addiction and your drone syndrome. You’ll actually start thinking for yourself. You know stuff like this:
The Founders believed and the Conservative agrees, in the dignity of the individual; that we, as human beings, have a right to live, live freely, and pursue that which motivates us not because man or some government says so, but because these are God-given natural rights.

Someone mentioned that the inmates who received stimulus checks will be able to afford to pay for health care insurance. According to the AP, 3,900 inmates received the checks. That sounds like a big number until you do the math. 3,900 out of 52 million social security recipients is 0.000075 percent--not exactly a big number. The checks were $250 each. You can't buy a lot of health insurance for that. The average premium--for a family-- is about $15,000. You couldn't even buy two boxes of Kleenex, as one patient was charged $129 for one box of what a hospital called a "mucous recovery system." And speaking of Social Security, given Bill O'Reilly's logic, that would be unconstitutional too, and unfair since young people pay the same as older people even though they may never live to receive any benefits.

Too bad the Liberals have no credibility left, they have been exposed. And finally challenged at the grass roots level; they blindly follow the socialist program and fraudulent leaders without even questioning who wrote the stimulus? Why did you sign it? Our unfunded liability for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is close to $100 trillion. Is there any way to pay for these programs without bankrupting America? We are in so much debt, why spend more borrowed money on cap-and-trade and healthcare programs before we stop the flow of red-ink?
- The stimulus package funneled billions of dollars to ACORN. How does giving billions of dollars to ACORN stimulate the economy?
- If it was so important for congress to pass the stimulus bill before they even had time to read it why has only a fraction of the stimulus money been spent 6 months later?
It was announced Friday and confirmed Monday another 2 trillion, or if you like 2 thousand billion added to the national debt.
By the time these socialist get through with the United States we will be bankrupted

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victim, and he wears their face and their garments and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. (1) OBAMA has set back racial and gender fairness by 30 years in the nation where the "white man" set slaves free, gave women the vote, and gave blacks the vote.
(2) OBAMA has blamed the previous administration for the $500 billion deficit while "fixing" the economy by quadrupling the deficit.
(3) OBAMA has complained about the "secrecy" of the previous administration by being the most secretive administration in history.
