There are times when Fox beats information to death. This is one that can not be ignored, even for a minute. But let's give us other topics for us to discuss.

For those who really want to learn something about health care reform, here is an interview of Denis Cortese, President and CEO of Mayo Clinic, who knows a whole lot more about the subject than Hannity.

Should we want ours and our children’s health and lives to be in the hands of Insurance Company Executives who receive millions/billions of dollars to make as humongous a profit as possible……or should we want our federal government to manage our health care in the same manner it has managed Medicare, Medicaid and the Veteran’s Administration? And before anyone starts trashing the VA, let me remind them that quality of care has always been rated high at the VA. The problem has always been insufficient funds to provide timely care in quantity, not bad doctors/nurses.

Do people realize that medical insurance pays only a fraction of one's medical bills? One still pays when he sees the doctor, when he receives medical treatment, and when he purchases medication. And if one cannot pay then the cost is put on the tab, the same as it is without insurance.

Health care reform is needed, just not this diaster for all of us! Fix what is broken like the waste/fraud in Medicare/Medicaid that averages $60-100 million every year, tort reform to do away with health care professionals having to practice defensive medicine to the tune of about $100 billion every year, etc. The current bill wants to revamp everything. Why? Some are satisfied with their coverage. Go from there. Quit giving free health care to illegals which has been a large reason for the mess we have in health care costs today. Also have coverage that caters to the needs of each individual and not blanket coverage. Just listen to what the American people are saying not to enact this monstrous power grab to advance the Socialistic agenda.

You're right. What we have needs some tweaking and it will work. Cobra is out of line. Allow people to stay with a plan when they leave a job at the same cost as they were paying. Make anybody coming to the dr.s office prove citizenship. If they are serious enough to go to the ER they will get treated, no questions asked. But if they go to the ER for a runny nose and cannot prove citizenship, tell them to go to their dr. and turn them away!

The reason that healthcare costs are so high in this country is because American citizens have been subsidizing healthcare for illegals for decades. California pays $1.4 billion EVERY year to provide healthcare for illegal aliens. That is just one state in just one year. Illegals should not be included in this plan.

Little wonder the Mexican government is helping them to come here in the millions.....and California is just one state. The cost of uncontrolled borders and illegal immigration is bankrupting this country faster than anything else.

If you're a senior on medicare and some unfortunate dread disease should befall you, That's one way it could affect you. Im way past 65, and that happened to me. Instead of having end of life conferences, I was trated by the most caring Surgeons and physicians, that conferenced with me, about how they intended on keeping me alive. No treatment was spared, no tests, no matter what the cost were witheld because of my age. I continue to have a better than good quality of life, and every day thank God for the health supplementals I'm able to buy.

majorphilter, we Americans DO want healthcare reform. BUT we do NOT want THIS bill. THIS bill is a HORROR. Besides being loaded with unnecessary things and waste, this bill has quite a bit of offensive things in it. It also inflates government. There is a potential for corruption exceeding the current standards. I don't want the government or ACORN involved in my healthcare! Clean up the existing standards, revise Tort, leave out illegals, include ALL governmental officials and STOP feeding at the public trough.

CNN just had a panel of 3 distinguished economists (including Nial Ferguson from Harvard) talking about how the Americans receive the worst bang for the buck for health care in the G8 and it will drive American bankrupt if nothing changes. As a Canadian I am stunned by the health care debate in America. America spends 16% of its GDP on health care, Canadians spend 9%. Morbidity rates for all major diseases are statistically identical between Canada and America. Canadians live 3 years longer than Americans on average. In fact, Canada has the 10 highest life expectancy in the world while America has the 30th. Americans are paying twice as much for health care than Canadians for the privilege of dying sooner.

On the part of minority health, the United States should be a country that underderstands which diseases affect specific individuals. I think that it is good that the topic was presented. A doctor should study all aspects of health which relates to genetics there would be a greater success rate of preventing and/or treating disease(s). But for our people to be so blind to say that "minority health shouldn't be a factor" while determining how Americans are treated when they go the doctor is a DISGRACE. We are individuals! We are all not the same when it comes down to health! And we all have the choice of getting a second opinion from a physician. I don't care what COLOR!!!! my physician is I just want to make sure that she/he understands what is going on with my body and that she/he CARES enough to tell me the TRUTH. We must take responsibility when choosing our physicians. Breast cancer affects more women than men, but skin cancer affects more whites than blacks. What's the differece? White, black, brown, red and olive skin, but WE ARE ALL BEING AFFECTED!!!! SOME AMERICANS NEED TO WAKE UP!!!!!!
