Sarah Palin on Saturday laid the groundwork to take on a larger, national role after leaving state government, citing a "higher calling" with the aim of uniting the country along conservative lines. A day after surprising even her closest friends by announcing she would step down as Alaska governor more than a year before her term was up, the controversial hockey mom was still keeping details of her future plans under wrap.

Sarah Palin has been attacked by the media and the left (and some of the right) since she came onto the scene. Nobody has been attacked the way she has. She has them scared. Further more, until her reasons are known, everything that is said is pure speculation.
I don't think this has hurt her chances for running for president in 2012 or 2016. I like it that she is unconventional..not like others in Washington that don't have brains anymore.

Personally, I think that she has BIG plans in store ( :)) . She resigned in order to be able to plan them and carry out the building of infrastructure without being in the spotlight (ie under the radar). That is the only way that ANY republican will be able to plan a strategy and implement it because all of the IDIOCRATS (dems) and MOST of the media would attempt to systematically tear apart any legitimate threat to their quest for bigger government control and their shift toward socialism. Palin is taking the right approach, an ambush, that will take the socialists by surprise. Before the end of the year, the government will control much more than GM, Chrysler, and those too big to fail. Sarah Palin, in my opinion, is a God loving person that is closer to the people than ANY other person in government today.GO SARAH. We should all be behind her.

Look, as a center-leaning Democrat who would actually like to see a viable GOP to challenge the unbridled leftists in control of Washington, I think your only real choice at the moment is to draft Rick Perry. This is a man who is running a surplus in his state during a recession, and cut taxes while doing it. He’s a true fiscal conservative (not fake fiscal conservative like most of the spendthrift GOP in Washington since the 90’s) and a social conservative; most importantly, unless some new story breaks, he is not an adulterer (Sanford), has been (Gingrich) or quitter (Palin).
