Outgoing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday laid the groundwork to take on a larger, national role after leaving state government, citing a "higher calling" with the aim of uniting the country along conservative lines. A day after surprising even her closest friends by announcing she would step down as Alaska governor more than a year before her term was up, the controversial hockey mom was still keeping details of her future plans under wrap.

I have heard the criticism of Sara Palins decision to resign from politicians, both Republican and Democrat, and the TV media, including Fox, and I think they have overlooked a very important point. They are looking at her decision from a political standpoint and Sarah is not a politician. She is a concerned citizen who is involved in politics. That's what I like about her. She does not think or act like a politician. That explains her reasons for resigning and puts them in perspective. Go Sarah you have my support.

Honestly even under the deomcratic small majority rule, the Republicans could block any legislation going through congress. Historically when republicans are not in power they are the kings of the fillibuster esencially bringing congress to its knees and nothing gets done.
Id like the democrats to at least get 1 year without republicans causing a s#$# storm and see how it goes. It could not be much worse then what happened over the last few years, take away government regulation of the free market and we are left with the mess we have now.

I am sick to death of the personal attacks on Palin. John McCain and Sarah Palin did not win in 2008...Did you liberals get that? I can't imagine saying the things about anyone that have been said about Palin and her children. I am a conservative and am not all that enamoured with Palin, but still don't believe she should be attacked mercilessly and driven to the poor house defending herself against bogus ethics charges.
