Pfc. Marquest Smith, who is heading to Afghanistan in January, was filling out medical paperwork about his bee-sting allergy when he heard a loud popping noise.
Moans followed, then the sudden, urgent shout of "Gun!"
Smith poked his head over the cubicle's partition and saw an extraordinary sight: An Army officer with two guns, firing into the crowded room.
The 21-year-old Fort Worth native quickly grabbed the civilian worker who'd been helping with his paperwork and forced her under the desk. He lay low for several minutes, waiting for the shooter to run out of ammunition and wishing he, too, had a gun.
After the shooter stopped to reload, Smith made a run for it. Pushing two other soldiers in front of him, he made it out of the Soldier Readiness Processing center — only to plunge into the building twice more to help the wounded.
Smith had survived the worst mass shooting on an American military base: a rampage of more than 100 shots that left 13 dead and more than two dozen wounded, including the alleged shooter, Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

"General Casey, who was appeared on three Sunday news programs, used almost the same language during an interview on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos,” an indication of the Army’s effort to ward off bias against the more than 3,000 Muslims in its ranks."
(am I the only one who see an obvious problem in this NY Times article? Cutting back on editors already?)

Sooner or later we are bound to get a real President someone who will deal with the enemies outside and more importantly the enemies inside this country. Its one thing for the Democrats to bury us financially but its another to act spineless with a threat in your own backyard. 2010,2012

If it Walks like a TERRORIST, TALKS like a TERRORIST, and ACTS like a TERRORIST, IT'S A TERRORIST!
ce
If the FBI learned of Internet postings by Nidal Hasan expressing support for SUICIDE BOMBINGS, why didn't the FBI and the Army do something about what was posted on the internet??? It sounds like this man was known for making terrorist remarks and got by with it. Not only is Hasan responsible for what happened at Fort Hood, but it seems to me others are responsible for not doing anything about this mad man!
Carol in MA
Hasan worshipped @ the Dar al-Hijrah mosque, it's said to be the most dangerous mosque in America. Obama will fight very hard to make sure Hasans jihad isn't described as a terrorist attack, regardless of any evidence to the contrary, they'll NEVER say it was an Act of War on US soil!! That's why the MSM are saying he's a victim (they don't want Obama to look bad)!! Obama and his admin care more about the Muslims feelings than Americas safety!! They STILL can't bring themselves to say the word TERRORISM!!!
Captain Obvious
citrus, are you are in college?
Captain Obvious
oops, ALREADY in college
Captain Obvious
Don;t you wonder how each post is scrutinized by the FN moderators? I just typed out a post to citrus..just asking questions about what he wants to do in his career, talking about politicians...and . Nothing

These people need to be reallocated. They cannot be trusted. It is time to start "profiling" them. Anyone who HATES America needs to leave this country.
stoptheinsanity
send him to iran he likes islam so much
Jim on The Fox Nation
@Captain...Hasan is now breathing on his own.....he is getting better care then we will if HR passes...hey now....
A. Capone
No-it's exactly the same- government run- Moron.
fromdabankruptstate
This guy should have been separated from the military when he started talking in support of the terrorists. Seems like it always takes something tragic to happen before people speak out.
Captain Obvious
LOL some kind of sick(no pun intended) irony in that
TxGold
@citrus, there is nothing wrong with 'folksy'. It's a lot better than the elitist that are in Washington right now. Good place to start.
citrus
There is nothing wrong with it, I just think she was trying too hard to portray herself as folksy and wans't being herself. I've heard her speak off the campaign trail and have been impressed, but also taken back as to how different she sounded than when she was campaigning.
Captain Obvious
Mit Romney, Guliani, hech Huckabee are all people I would have respected. On the women side, Kay Bailee Hutchinson would have been a great canidate. I just think the Republican party should have had a better canidate that Sarah Palin
____________________________
I think Sarah Palin should be utilized, but I do not think she is ready to be President. The reason people like her so much is because she is honest and unafraid of going after the corrupt. That is what people are in search of in our politicians. (however oxymoronic) (I just made up that word because it fits) lol
hipgrammie
I don't trust Kay Bailee Hutchinson too much. She is a republican but voted on stimulas package without reading it.
citrus
I don't think really anyone got to read through it, wasn't it like 1000 pages or so?
citrus
She reminded me of the campaign Andrew Jackson had in 1830. Very much appealing as a common man canidate, and the people did love him. People like Sarah Palin, but I think she portrayed herself too common, and I think she is a very bright person. I just didn't think she was what she was acting like, and that was a bit dissapointing.
Oxymoronic should be a word.
citrus
I think she does care about the middle class, and I think she really did mean most of what she said, but I don't think she was being herself.
Captain Obvious
Interesting take...but I think she really does care about the middle class. I could be wrong...time will tell.
Captain Obvious
@citrus-You are very bright. Don't be sad about being young...we need more critical thinking young people in this country. Will you be able to vote in 2010? When will you turn 18?
citrus
Yes, but unfortunatly Texas dosn't have any seats up for election in 2010 so I more or less have to wait for the big 2012 to vote on something important.
citrus
Politics seems more like a curse than a career. Way too many people just waiting for you slip and fall.
Captain Obvious
You are impressive...interested in going into politics? Already signed up for college?
HG
This was domestic terrorism. Even some of the officers were scared to report this idiots actions before the attack as they were scared that they would be accused of racism against a muslim.
Captain Obvious
citrus
I hate him more.
----------------------------
That's at least some good news although I don't think you should "hate" anyone. Too many young people blindly follow him. So tell me why you "hate" Sarah Palin?
citrus
Hate is perhaps too strong a word. I dislike her because I find her too fake. I don't think she is as folksy as she tried to portray herself as, and I don't think folksy is what we want in a VP. I don't like the fact that she was trying to play stupid, I think she is actually an intellegent person. My main reason is that I think there where better canidates for the job. Just about any of the other fore runners during the primaries should have taken it.
citrus
I guess because she was folksy. I think it was similar to the campaign for Andrew Jackson in 1830, people seem to like people who represent the common man. I just didn't beleive she was what she was trying to be. I think she is a very bright person and if she had just acted that way I may have respected her alot, but she tried to hard to be that common person.
Captain Obvious
Do you understand why people radiated towards her?
Brooksher
I find it interesting that our Secretary of Hopey-Changey's initial response to a case of domestic terrorism is to board a jet for Dubai and immediately try to squash some non-existent anti-Muslim sentiment. What can I say, elections have consequences, folks.
Captain Obvious
@TxGold- I;m thinking he'll say "Jon Stewart." that's where they all get their "news."
citrus
No, I hate John Stewart just as much.
TxGold
@citrus: Go ahead, explain a good reason to 'hate' Sarah. Not dislike or disagree with, but to 'hate'. We're waiting.
citrus
She's too folksy. I'm all for grass roots, but I think there where better canidates.
citrus
Mit Romney, Guliani, hech Huckabee are all people I would have respected. On the women side, Kay Bailee Hutchinson would have been a great canidate. I just think the Republican party should have had a better canidate that Sarah Palin
Captain Obvious
So who do you deem worthy of representing this country?
Captain Obvious
I'm guessing he'll say "Jon Stewart"
citrus
I hate him more.
Captain Obvious
citrus, are you really under 18 years old?
citrus
Sadly yes, otherwise I probably would be just as angry Americans voted for Obama. Seeing as I can't, I have little to say.
Captain Obvious
@Jim on Fox Nation- LOL SO glad someone sees my point!
Barbarella
I hope he gets more than "life". If you catch my drift. My post was not posted, I guess I can't say the word beyond life, but that is fine, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks like that.
Jim on The Fox Nation
Imagine if he were a gay muslim....we would be reading about General Hasan...
Captain Obvious
and Christianity
Captain Obvious
I think Muslims frown on "gaydom"

My advice to the United States Military, you better forget the Political Correctness and get these terrorist out of our Armed Forces. They are in every branch of our services and just waiting to for the right time. We know their religion hates Americans and the Jewish people. What are we doing to our country and to our service members? You better start cleaning house and get rid of all the terrorist in our military.
citrus
You know we have gang bangers in the military too right? I think it's harder to get a perfect fighting force than you think.
