Holder's Former Law Firm Representing 'High Value' Detainees
Of all the infuriating aspects of the decision to transfer five 9/11 war criminals to civilian federal court, the one that grates most is the contention that the Obama administration is finally moving forward after “eight years of delay” — as Attorney General Eric Holder put it at his Friday press conference — during which the Bush administration managed to complete only three military-commission trials.
This is chutzpah writ large. The principal reason there were so few military trials is the tireless campaign conducted by leftist lawyers to derail military tribunals by challenging them in the courts. Many of those lawyers are now working for the Obama Justice Department. That includes Holder, whose firm, Covington & Burling, volunteered its services to at least 18 of America’s enemies in lawsuits they brought against the American people. (During 2007 alone, Covington contributed more than 3,000 hours of free, top-flight legal assistance to our enemy detainees.)

If between now and November 2010 the American people will educated themselves about the congressional candidates and then go to the poles and vote for for them based their ethics, character and past record, rather than the lip service they provide we can turn this thing around. In this past presidential election that is not what happened. Too many people voted based on what the candidate promised he would do rather that what his past actions clearly showed that he would do.

By proclaiming a conviction in advance of the trial, Holder has already prejudiced the case and any attorney worth his salt will get KSM and the other 4 acquitted. Wouldn't be be a conflict of interest for Holder that being a senior partner for Covington & Burling law firm that was the defence for these people? It just seems wrong that a former senior partner for the firm that defended the men is the one that pushed for a federal trial. Also jury selection is going to happen how? Even Liberals in New York have to have a preconceived notion that these men are guilty and the whole city was effected by 9/11, the whole country. Any good defence lawyer with out a soul is going to be looking for a mistrial with an argument that there is no way in hades that they will get a "fair" trial.

So let's recap. Chuckie Schumer has just told the feds (meaning taxpayers) that we need to pick up the tab for the cost of providing security during these "trials." NYPD is estimating that it will cost millions. The American taxpayer is also going to have to pick up the tab for Eric Holder's law firm to represent the detainees. Now, we could have had the trials at GITMO which we already pay the tab for.....and could have had military tribunals. So now we get to pay twice for something that nobody in this country wants in the first place. Way to go libs.
