Holder Subpoenas Web site Visitor Lists
In a case that raises questions about online journalism and privacy rights, the U.S. Department of Justice sent a formal request to an independent news site ordering it to provide details of all reader visits on a certain day.
The grand jury subpoena also required the Philadelphia-based Indymedia.us Web site "not to disclose the existence of this request" unless authorized by the Justice Department, a gag order that presents an unusual quandary for any news organization.

There is more to this story. I guess the US attorney threatened the lives of anyone on the board of directors in this news organization. Isn't that a crime. Please bombard the US Attorney's office and ask for this attorney to be fired. Even better go to DC and PA US Attorney offices and protest and riot and be loud and don't leave until these people are fired.

The subpoena was issued on Jan. 23rd, 2009. Current Attorney General Eric Holder was not appointed until Feb. 3rd, 2009. Mark Filip, appointed by George W. Bush, was the acting Attorney General at the time of this subpoena being issed. If this had been submitted to the Attorney General by US Attorney Tim Morrison (also a Bush appointee) as required by law, Holder never would have seen it.
I am disappointed that Fox calls this journalism and that no one takes the time to actually research a story themselves. This is shoddy work by CBS, Fox and any other outlet that chooses to run it without actually reading the subpoena.
