Atheists Trigger Nativity Scene Ban

Dozens rallied in the borough's square Saturday afternoon to support a traditional nativity scene that has been placed there for years, but this season is conspicuously missing.

The local garden club usually sets up the nativity near the fountain at the intersection of Main Street and Lincoln Way, but the borough council recently put a stop to all displays in the square.

"I think it's a terrible sign of our times when we cannot have a nativity scene in our public square," Tim Stanton, a rally participant, said.

The borough decided to bar all displays from the square after an atheist, agnostic and secular humanist organization called Pennsylvania Nonbelievers (PAN) asked to set up a 3 ft. by 4 ft. sign reading "Celebrating Solstice -- Honoring Atheist War Veterans" in the square. Read more here.

Why would an Atheist or an Agnostic care about Christian celebrations? If they were truly Atheist or Agnostic then it wouldn't matter. However, many know they are missing something from within, are miserable, and it pains them to see others celebrate the joy of God. http://www.apexaminer.com

America has had great success in the past 200+ years with the family unit being the center piece for stability, growth, pride, empowerment and development of indivual accompolishments.
We are now in that downward spiral.
All great countries failed because of it's own lack of accountability, ethics, morals and irresponsable leaders.
Freedom is not free, we have to fight for it daily or we may loose it!
Trust in God and fight evil!
Let's reform goverment first.
Stop waste, fraud and abuse now.
Reduce our taxes so indivuals can stimulate the economy, the way we see fit!
Let's get medicare, medicade, and social security solvent first before we start something else we can't afford.
The goverment exists for two reasons only to protect the homeland and enforce the laws we the people make.
With this comes lower taxes and a enviroment that companies can compete in and give benefits to it's employee's ( medical).
Open competition between states to lower medical cost.
Cap lawsuits to lower medical cost.
Open medical school enrollement to all that qualify.
Stop waste, fraud and abuse first.
Stop all foreign aid.

You still are not reading the story. You said, "why do atheist feel compelled to interfere with a specific religious display?" The atheists did NOT interfere with anything. They did not object to the nativity, they simply wanted their own sign in the PUBLIC square. Rather than allow the sign, the borough decided to bar all displays from the square.

There are no rights for anyone to display or not display. In a constitutional republic the force of law is first granted to the elected than to the courts if necessary. The real question is why do atheist feel compelled to interfere with a specific religious display.
