Obama: Don't 'Jump to Conclusions' on Fort Hood Shooting
Barack Obama gave his second statement on the Fort Hood massacre, and this one went better than his first. He cautioned Americans to let law-enforcement agencies do their job in investigating the 13 murders apparently committed by Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan and to avoid “jumping to conclusions” based on incomplete data. Although this statement has prompted angry responses in e-mail, in this case Obama’s correct — almost anticlimactically so. Read more here.

James Crowley of the Cambridge Massachusetts Police "acted stupidly," when he arrested Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates. Wow. Great analogy as usual. Just make stuff up as you go? The reason for an investigation is to find out whether or not the shooter acted alone or is connected to something bigger. The reason for an investigation is to NOT ignore anything. But that's what you want right? Execute the shooter and blame all Muslims without figuring out what happhened and why. No one has suggested anything less than a complete investigation. But that doesn't include ignoring the obvious, either. Perhaps you're unaware that execution requires conviction first. Even this terrorist is "innocent" until proven guilty. Hopefully the state of Texas will prosecute to avoid Eric Holder's involvement.

Please let me refresh your memories, perhaps you missed the news welcomed in by this wonderful administration. This is a “Man-Caused Disaster” not an act of terrorism by one of our Muslim brothers. I know that somewhere out there somebody forced this man to join the service where he received an education on the taxpayers’ dime; he then decided that he didn’t want to participate. He was in for the government hand out. I am startled by the silence of the moderate Muslim community, if there is a silent Muslim community. I know we have to take our time in judging this act but how much time do we need, before more significant action is required. 2010 will be a telling moment for this nation, we need to vote this administration out of power.

The shooter was caught so what's the rush? The facts kept changing a lot during the first day of this horrific incident so it's a good idea to wait for the investigation to proceed before crying "terrorism." It's obvious that the media was in a rush to get information out to the public witout verifying it first. And some people are in a rush to judge based on incomplete and contradicting information. Why he committed the murders is still not certain. Getting the facts first is the smart thing to do.
