There were after much debate approximately 1.7 to 2 million people at the 912/Tea Party in Washington, DC this past Saturday. The picture shown on this site only takes into account a very narrow portion of the lawn area on the West side of the Capitol. There were too many people to fit onto the lawn area, so the people were on the Plaza along the reflection pond and onto the side streets surrounding the Capitol. Even the Capitol Police were astounded after we started Marching between 9:45 am and 10am towards the Capitol, as to how many people were still coming at 11am to 12 noon, and they continued coming even after that. There just wasn't room for everyone on the law or on the Plaza, that they lines Constitution and Pennsylvania Avenue on both sides. These people weren't spectators as they had their signs and their flags to wave as well. The protestors were respectful and no incidences occurred. We had a few people with health issues, but everyone was very cooperative in coming to their aid. We the People who came for the Tea Party/912 Rally want to thank the Capitol Police and EMC's for their services. The entire rally went off with very little hitches. Thanks also to FEEDOM WORKS. Great Job. And, Thanks to anyone I forgot to mention.

News flash - tea party in Kansas City, MO tonite. Joe the Plumber scheduled to appear bailed at last moment. News at 10 pm showed the tea party of approximately 20-25 people. WOW big majority right here in the midwest. However if 20-25 from lots of towns across the US converged on DC last Saturday it's very possible the numbers could have reached to honestly reported 60,000 or tops 75,000.

I think I'm going to have a little "Tea Party" in my home and invite my neighbors. If each person who attended a tea party this week-end gave a Tea Party in his or her home we could turn this country around. House to house let us unite!

Why can't we get an official estimate of the crowd? I heard that the capitol police refused to give an estimate, but they've provided estimates for every other gathering. What's up. Even Bill O'Reilly keeps using the 75,000 number and I feel sure there were more than that there. I have seen estimates of 100,000 to 250,000. What's the big secret? Will somebody please find out?

I’ve read the leftist blogs and listen to the left disdain for America and the freedom that America stands for. I’ve heard the left messages about assassinating George Bush and raping Sarah’s daughters. I’ve heard and read all the repulsive commentary from the left on how Conservatives are a dying breed. I see the war the left are waging against the private sector and hardworking people. The president has not once said a positive word about our country and it’s great people. Americans know instinctively that something is very wrong and know the country is in jeopardy of a socialist take over. They don’t have to put their finger right on it. Americans know they don’t have time to analyze the insidious assault on our country. The socialist cannot insult and attack good hardworking people relentlessly blaming them for all the worlds’ problems and not expect a reaction. Americans traveled to DC on 9/12/09 with some apprehension for the possibility of being in harms way. They came to support and protect the brave fellow Americans they care about. We came to cover each others backs knowing how dangerous the leftist socialist democrats can be. We were worried about Acorn presence and Union thugs threatening us but we came. We got a taste of what it’s like to engage in battle with little regard for our own safety. We came to crush and destroy the Socialist Democrats. This movement is going to continue and I will be supporting it with all my heart, my strength, my soul

You are clearly confused, my opinion on the war is that it was a stupid thing to do it made more of a mess of that country cause countless needless deaths and should never have been got into, however after making such a mess of things I have no problem with having to stay to clean up the damn mess.
I have no problem with anyone protesting, I do however find it amusing that no one seems to be sure why they are protesting but that is beside the point.
The hypocrisy I was pointing out is fox news coverage of both the war protests and the tea party. It is amusing that you can not see this and simply attack me based on a point of view you assume that I have.

You know the ones that where ignored by government, belittled by fox news and yet when less people show up to be angry at each other regarding, well I’m not even sure most of you know why you are actually angry, you expect the world to change and bend to your will.

Sometimes these things are solved politically, sometimes they're not. In the extreme case that this country would have to "refresh the Tree of LIberty", would we, no, COULD we count on you? No one, and I believe sincerely, no one wants to see violence or civil war, however, it could happen.. History has a way of repeating itself. I don't think these signs were advocating violence, maybe a "shot across the bow" (ie: a warning ). It's just a way of expressing that no matter what, we will not give in to anything except a free republic.
