A day before New York Rep. Peter King called Michael Jackson a “pervert” unworthy of nonstop media coverage, the aunt of a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan on the same day Jackson died asked why her nephew's death went virtually unnoticed while the King of Pop got memorial shrines across the country. "Mr. Jackson received days of wall-to-wall coverage in the media," Martha Gillis wrote to the Washington Post. "Where was the coverage of my nephew or the other soldiers who died that week?"

To the family of 1st Lt. Brian N. Bradshaw and others like them. A thousand Michael Jacksons or any of the others in the entertainment or political business should not be as important as the loss of one soldier, sailor, or airmen. Those youngsters who fight for us should always come first. Without them we would not have the freedom that we take for granted. It is truly a shame that we put people who haven’t even try to defend this country on a pedestal and the media thinks that whatever they say or do is somehow heroic and glorious like we see being played out in the media every day. The coverage of Jackson and others like him is making a mockery of those who served especially the dead and wounded who don’t even rate an acknowledgement in the press except as an obituary article in their hometown newspaper. We all should hang our heads in shame over this.

yes shame, bcs of all the families of the fallen soldiers are stuck to the tv right now watching MJ's coverage just as the rest of the world, so yes...well said...hang your heads to shame.....

The mainstream media is glorifying a drug abusing, child molestor as a hero, while they completely ignore the true heroes of our country - the men and women who serve this country and give their lives to keep the rest of us safe and free. Those photographs should not be published. Do you honestly think that the wives or husbands of these soldiers want their caskets photographed and displayed for all to see? We already have to deal with people protesting at the funerals (backed up by the Supreme Court by the way). It is a private moment, private grief. Do not speak of something of which you have no knowledge. What a callous comment.

The media never wanted to honor our military, they wanted to show caskets and the grief "so people will know the costs of war". Which we allready know, they wanted to push their "all war is wrong, there is no honor in war agenda"

I share the beliefs and concerns of this family. MJ was a pop icon, that's all, not any kind of hero. He made his fortunes by living the American dream. That dream was and is provided and protected by soldiers and all military personnel, brave men and women who give the ultimate for there country. God Bless the USA and all those who defend her.

The Aunt of this young patriot is 110% correct Men like this man are a rare breed. Those who fight and died with men like this are as close to immortal as Man can get. Not with out faults, as all humans have, but men that command respect ,for their self discipline , fortitude and love for freedom. These are men of courage and honor and will and should always be remembered as such!
