A day before New York Rep. Peter King called Michael Jackson a “pervert” unworthy of nonstop media coverage, the aunt of a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan on the same day Jackson died asked why her nephew's death went virtually unnoticed while the King of Pop got memorial shrines across the country. "Mr. Jackson received days of wall-to-wall coverage in the media," Martha Gillis wrote to the Washington Post. "Where was the coverage of my nephew or the other soldiers who died that week?"

To the family of 1st Lt. Brian N. Bradshaw and others like them. A thousand Michael Jacksons or any of the others in the entertainment or political business should not be as important as the loss of one soldier, sailor, or airmen. Those youngsters who fight for us should always come first. Without them we would not have the freedom that we take for granted. It is truly a shame that we put people who haven’t even try to defend this country on a pedestal and the media thinks that whatever they say or do is somehow heroic and glorious like we see being played out in the media every day. The coverage of Jackson and others like him is making a mockery of those who served especially the dead and wounded who don’t even rate an acknowledgement in the press except as an obituary article in their hometown newspaper. We all should hang our heads in shame over this.
DianaV
yes shame, bcs of all the families of the fallen soldiers are stuck to the tv right now watching MJ's coverage just as the rest of the world, so yes...well said...hang your heads to shame.....

She may be right. But who is going to listen? Some Americans like to trash our soldiers and MJ is no god.Just another human being that gave his all and made the world aware of just how much corruption there is in drug use by rich and famous.
Our American soldiers have fought for our freedom and have made the greatest sacrifices as such as we have seen the world has taken advantage of.

'A thousand Michael Jacksons or any of the others in the entertainment or political business should not be as important as the loss of one soldier, sailor, or airmen.'
Right on! Or how about a million?!
Ginny2
Non of our soldiers get the honors they deserve, living, retired or dead. Of course they should be honored; they do what is honorable and right so that the Michael Jacksons of the world can do their thing and get the accolades
Reagan Conservative
Hell Yes she is right ! Our troops serve this country with honor. All MJ ever did was sing and moon walk.

To the moderators- Why do you let that stalker-Crook hog the boards on Sarah Palin spewing hatred over and over? Shouldn't you think about calling the police?
betsyross1776
what on earth are you talking about?
mersey
I'll be glad when this circus rolls out of town. Yes, our servicemen deserve more of our attention than MJ, but we live in a world where pop culture trumps everything else. It's a sad statement of the times we're in.

WOW I WISH FOX NATION WOULD POST MY MESSAGES! LOOKS LIKE IT'S BACK TO RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY SIGHTS FOR ME. THEY ACTUALLY WORK. WATCH THIS WILL POST!
DianaV
yeah mine too....
denise00
My messages NEVER get posted either! Maybe Fox should just stick to one Fox News. They don't seem to be able to handle more than one at a time.
SJLC
I have sent 3 and not one has yet to be posted.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Cav03
Why, because the media and the left hate anything military! I'm sorry for your lose but take comfort in the idea he died defending what the left and the media want to destroy. His act of selflessness is a shining example of what is good in this country!
American Dem
take your hate somewhere else Cav. to say that is nothing short of treasonous
OldMan
american dem your a good example of the loony left and there thinking....As as combat vet we join the miltary for various reasons but all of us have fought to keep us in the lifestyle you now enjoy and for the most part are proud of this country. I lost friends and was wounded so you can think and say anything you'd like but what Cav stated was niether hatedfull our treasonous and if you really believe it to be so I feel sorry for you

The mainstream media is glorifying a drug abusing, child molestor as a hero, while they completely ignore the true heroes of our country - the men and women who serve this country and give their lives to keep the rest of us safe and free. Even Fox News caves into ratings and over does the coverage on MIchael Jackson.
American Dem
So I guess from now on when we say mainstream media, we are referencing Fox News
Vietnam Veteran
American Dem - The facts you refer to on MS-NBC are made up of lies and half truths just to prove some some stupid point not supported by the truth. Now Shoo, only intelligent truthful comments wanted.
American Dem
If I turn on Fox, they are wall to wall coverage on this. And yoru right, MSNBC reports facts so I guess what I said is right out of their playbook.
Vietnam Veteran
Leave it up to a low life Dem to take something out of context and twist the facts to make a stupid point. Right out of the MS-NBC playbook.
Pepper K
I agree completely. I am soooo sick of hearing about MJ.
FedUp in Denver
In this age of celebrity and shallowness of character, your son stands as a beacon of the best, bravest, and most honorable men of our country. I am as frustrated as Ms Gillis. Right now, a lot of things seem upside down in this country. His honor lets me know that there is hope for the next generation to connect with the ideals that make America great.
American Dem
Yet the media wanting to honor fallen soldiers as they came home was not allowed by the previous administration. You wanted that hush hush
thistleberry
Those photographs should not be published. Do you honestly think that the wives or husbands of these soldiers want their caskets photographed and displayed for all to see? We already have to deal with people protesting at the funerals (backed up by the Supreme Court by the way). It is a private moment, private grief. Do not speak of something of which you have no knowledge. What a callous comment.
Art A
The families want their privacy, idiot!
Ginny2
The media never wanted to honor our military, they wanted to show caskets and the grief "so people will know the costs of war". Which we allready know, they wanted to push their "all war is wrong, there is no honor in war agenda"

While it feels like we're living in an insane asylum, there are many good people who share her beliefs & concerns, and from whom there is heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices & contributions of those heroes, both extraordinary & everyday.
Chi-Guy
I share the beliefs and concerns of this family. MJ was a pop icon, that's all, not any kind of hero. He made his fortunes by living the American dream. That dream was and is provided and protected by soldiers and all military personnel, brave men and women who give the ultimate for there country. God Bless the USA and all those who defend her.
openeyedAmerican
The Aunt of this young patriot is 110% correct Men like this man are a rare breed. Those who fight and died with men like this are as close to immortal as Man can get. Not with out faults, as all humans have, but men that command respect ,for their self discipline , fortitude and love for freedom. These are men of courage and honor and will and should always be remembered as such!
noblinkster
Well said!!! My heart and prayers go out to this family of a fallen hero. We must all reach out to these brave men and women whenever we see them, shake their hands and thank them for protecting this country and our freedoms! MJ could not even step in their footprints!

I can't agree with this lady more on this topic. A good firend of mine is involved in the fighting in Afg. at this very monet. I hope he is safe for his family.
Vietnam Veteran
The mother makes an excellent point. I will remember her and her son in my prayers.
Vietnam Veteran
I stand corrected, her nephew. My apologies, I was confused by the title of the article.
