Peter King called Michael Jackson a “pervert” unworthy of nonstop media coverage, the aunt of a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan on the same day Jackson died asked why her nephew's death went virtually unnoticed while the King of Pop got memorial shrines across the country. "Mr. Jackson received days of wall-to-wall coverage in the media," Martha Gillis wrote to the Washington Post. "Where was the coverage of my nephew or the other soldiers who died that week?"

This is where America is screwed up. People want to pay homage to a person that is a pedophile, and yet, this young man died while serving his country honorably. Maybe the better question to ask is, if this country was to come under attack, who do you think is going to stand up and protect your freedom, the Michael Jacksons of the world, or the Armed Forces? This should be a no brainer. People, it is time that you start paying tribute to the real icons of this country and not those that are only entertaining you. GOD SPEED TO THOSE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHOM HAVE PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE, AND GOD BLESS THOSE WHO ARE STILL IN HARMS WAY.

The woman hit the nail on the head. I quit watching Fox when Jacko died because that is all they talked about. Fact is that none of the media gives rip about our brave troops. I remember how some people spit on us when we came home from Vietnam. We went there to protect people from communism and we lost because the government became influenced by the media and lost it's will to win. George Bush set a nation free and the media and the left hates him for it. The real heroes are those who have paid the ultimate price for me and you and for those that hate them.

You bet she has a point. While I realize that all shows on TV are bound by ratings, I had hoped that FOX News had more integrity than to be focused on ratings over providing real news. MJ's death was worthy of some air time, but not worthy of complete dominance. He was a talented man, but he has been venerated beyond belief. Why are we enabling celebrity idolatry? We are enablers to their destructive lifestyles because we cannot seem to get enough of them. How pathetic are we that we have to feast off of celebrities? Why not devote time to the poor and unfortunate and use the time for more noble purposes?

How is it that Michael Jackson deserves a gold casket while our fallen troops do not? While MIchael was an entertainer famous worldwide, his "funeral" was nothing more than a show that AEG will profit from in the future. Let's see AEG pay for gold caskets for our troops, then I will shut my mouth.

Just think, if the media only covered fallen soldiers and their lives, that would be depressing everytime you turn on the tv! Soldiers die everyday (im not saying their worthless) but we cant cover every single soldier who dies, its unethical. This guy was a global icon, thats why we're putting so much attention on it. And dont get me wrong, we always cover when US soldiers die, but we cant give them full coverage

First of all, let me say God Bless that soldier and his family. May he rest in peace. No one is asking for 24/7 coverage of any soldiers, Marine, Sailors, Airmens death, we are just saying why are we not paying these men homage. Why are we not recognizing there full and irrevocable valor and sacrifice. Just to be mentioned and shown that they do matter, that they are somebody special, that they did not die in vein. Thats all. You have to see the bigger picture.

Wait a minute Jared, Think about what you just said. Here is the really depressing part of the whole thing. 12 people commited suicide over MJ's death. That is pathetic, it really is. The media and TV create an unreal fantasy world that many can never live due to the cost and it depresses a lot of people. They also create iconic beings that after all are only human. People try to find substance in the wrong things in life. I won't preach but, this country better look to the Lord because it has turned it's back on him.

I agree, Fox has given this more attention than IT deserves. AT LEAST on FOX however, IT hasn't been a BEATIFICATION. Fox also does cover the stories of our Fallen Heroes within the confines of have respect for the privacy of their families in their time of sorrow.

As a veteran, I must say first, Thank You and God Bless to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of Freedom. I understand that sacrifice and will never forget those who gave all. With that said, is this how we repay those who have sacrificed, with misplaced priorities. The overbearing news coverage of an individual that gave virtually nothing to civil society other than civil unrest is profoundly disrespectful. Michael Jackson is simply one flawed human being. The news coverage should dedicate all of it's time to those who make it possible (The TROOPS) for the media to even write or report on such silly superficial Elitism. Micheal Jackson die because of an over dose. This soldier died because he was protecting our freedoms. MJ died at the age of 50 - very young. Lt. Bradshaw was only 24 years old - his life just started. Our country is backwards what is important is not and what is not important is! God help us and God bless his family.

Could not agree with Martha Gillis more. For one thing why is Fox News covering the Michael Jackson funeral more than the news that effects our country? Jackson was a performer and certainly not a hero. This womans nephew died in defense of this great country that allows guys like Jackson to 'do his thing'. This country is at war and many of our finest are dying or being injured. These great Americans should be recognized and there valor made known to all Americans. They didn't aspire to be some kind of icon but to stand and defend this great nation. Perhaps Fox should create a daily segment, however brief, that recognize these true heroes. And maybe the American public should examine their priorities.

Here's a little history lesson for you. The ban on taking pictures was introduced by George H.W.. Bush in 1991. The ban was upheld by Bill Clinton, and was upheld again by George W, Bush.
