I just noticed that after having repeatedly tried to respond to IMHO, who in turn replied to me, which was initially a reply to Yankee Doodle, that YD's post has been removed and my initial reply was then automatically put under 67stang's post. Please note that this reply was NOT originally directed at you 67stang.

There are a lot of cartoons that we never see anymore because of perceived stereotypes and because of goody-two-shoes liberal organizations. I am 40 and remember cartoons such as Bugs Bunny and a character in blackface, or Mr. Magoo, Hong Kong Phoey, and many more. But the cartoons I grew up with also had loads and loads of historical, geographical, and cultural inferences that my mother took the time to tell me about. They were perfect learning opportunities. Not the watered-down "can't we all just get along; give peace a chance" BS that is on the tube now. From K through 12, we said the Pledge of Allegiance, and my generation turned out pretty good. I'm not saying that that was the sole reason. However, things seem to have started to go way south after the left's move to remove the Pledge and subsequent actions took place.

The original pledge did not include that phrase, so nothing subversive here. Check the history. The phrase was added in the 1950s during the cold war as we were countering godless Marxists.

I think Sarah plans on joining that same party her husband was in. You know, the one that wanted to separate from the USA. She's gonna become the leader of that party and make Alaska an independent country. Then she'll take over Alaska she'll be a world power selling her country’s resources. She’ll soon become allies with Russia, ‘cause that’s the only place she can see.

We Hold These Truths
As a man of over forty-something, I remember this cartoon. As a child and holding the lineage of pre-United States ancestry in America, my family made sure the points of this cartoon were bred into me and hoped I would stir the life and ambitions of our Framers into my children. I today sit and watch as words that were inscribed on animal parchment for the Country to revere lest we meet the fate of other counties who forgot wholesome ideals for power, money, and professional politics. I see greed and power destroy man on a level only pared with ancient times. The King Georges of our times are the politicians who now have pooled their collective power and forced the true holders of the Constitution, the citizens of the United States, into insolvency. We must now remember the words of our cartoon friend Uncle Sam here. If we forget and allow ouselves to become mesmerized by the star status elected officials who have little or no guidance for the future but more exploitation of race and endurance. Soon, without intervention, we will be enslaved by our government, as was the Egyptians who bore the stone of the Pyramids, not quite slaves, yet hold no power over our lives. Educate your children, Let freedom ring, loud and true. Send the tyrants of America home, unemployed, in 2010, and again in2012. Send a message to Washington D.C.: Don't Tread On Me!

There are so many things to talk about today. It is great to read about our history and how great and lucky we have been in the past making America this great country. Unfortunately I want to talk about the path we are taking today. From the first day of this country up until today the history of this country has been determined by a small minority of the people, this is not what one would think of as a Democracy. In reality we are a democracy in name only. In the first true democracy like ancient Sparta or Athens every citizen had to by law participate in the government of the state. Not only as good involved citizens or in military service but also as a member of the legislative body, check the history. We as americans do not even participate in our elections we vote at under 50% and of that it is easily to say that more then 50% of those are voting blindly that is to say that they are uniformed about the issues or how would follow the issues they would want, it is said to say but more american vote for their leaders more as if they were voting for a reality show American Idol is not how a country stay a free nation.
The question then is how have we stayed a free republic up until now. The answer may be hard to take but it is nothing but luck. We were lucky from day one, our first president George Washington first made a decision to not be His Majesty Washington he himself made the decision that he should not be king or president for life only appointed to a four

These are the men who we owe an eternal debt of gratitude to. The fifty-six signers of the Declaration of Independence, they pledged the price of freedom. “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.” Many did forfeit lives and fortunes. Do not let what these men have done to be in vain. These men were not members of any political party they were AMERICANS united for LIBERTY fighting against TYRANNY.
Of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence
Five were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes burned to the ground. Two lost sons serving in the Revolutionary Army, and two more had sons captured. Nine fought and died in the Revolutionary War. Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists, eleven were merchants, and nine were farmers and large plantation owners. They were well educated, smart enough to know that by signing the Declaration of Independence, they were signing their own death warrants. They did it anyway, God bless them for it and may God Bless America.
Are we willing to do the same for our country now?

WOW! So, I've simply been trying to point out that my reply and that of Kweeveen's were not initially to 67stang's post at all, rather to a post that has since been removed. Apparently saying something like that (the truth!), is too controversial and does not make it past the Mods.
