ND Students REFUSE to Graduate in Protest of Obama Visit!!
Notre Dame University seniors who have decided not to attend their commencement ceremony in protest of the university's decision to grant President Barack Obama an honorary law degree will instead hold a meditation in the university's Grotto of Our Lady Lourdes at 2 p.m. on May 17, to coincide with the official commencement. ND Response, the student-led coalition that is planning the meditation, says Notre Dame should not be honoring a political figure who supports abortion and stem cell research.

BRAVO for the students who boycott the graduation ceremonies. BO will be there because the board of directors at ND is part of his Chicago machine. THEY "OWE" HIM. This man can't prove his citizenship, was put into office with the fraud of ACORN, contributions from foreign countries, and a press that refused to portray this man's lack of qualifications. Everything about him is a lie, and to honor him in any way is a travesty. I think those who do participate in the ceremony should turn their backs on him when he speaks or even better, walk out . He is such a narcissist that it will surely have an affect on him and be a statement to the board of directors. Next stop funding the university.

The new movement in the political arena should be that of population control. Rather than argue prolife v. prochoice points, lets take a look at the facts. Crime over the past 30 or 40 years has reduced in tandem with an increase in abortions. A good use of tax payer dollars would be to offer $1000 CASH to any person who wishes to be sterilized. Special government coalitions could target crime ridden urban areas, sending groups in to build awareness of this program. Abortions would surely decrease as a result, but for those who never took the sterilization opportunity, abortions will be offered for free the first time with a doctor recommendation that they take advantage of this opportunity so as to avoid costs in the future. Heartless? Maybe, but heartless is what we need. Ask yourselves one question. How many drug addicts looking for cash to see their next score really go on to lead successful productive lives? Not many. Lets pay them to stop the cycle.

Anonymous, this is government funding of something that will cut major costs in the mid to long term after inception. There is no telling how much money the American taxpayer could save by no having as much dead weight in our system all around. In China, is closer to government MANDATED population control. What I am proposing is merely recommended but still voluntary. Again, the costs are relatively low and I would even be open to privatizing this type of program if there was enough outside money to keep it solvent.

Morals would be great, but it takes a whole society and culture to build that foundation. A few good hearted teachers, and good families are not enough to rebuild what secular progressives have done to this country. It is time to eliminate problems before they happen. The best way to do this through government funded sterilization. Those people interested in $1000 CASH IN HAND in exchange for their ability to have children are exactly the people we do not need procreating. Those people seeking to have abortions are seeeking them for one overarching reason and that is, for whatever reason good or bad, they are incapable of handling the responsibilities of a having a child. As a note, I am as conservative as they come, but I have to say to those prochoicers "Let them eat cake." If nothing else, they are destroying their own voting base. Think about it people.

There's a big difference between speaking and receiving an honorary degree in a gown decorated with Catholic symbols which were covered at Georgetown per the White House. Father Jenkins was wrong and sinned through his pride and avarice.

I don't think so . . .. Back it up with a source. The local Bishop begged ND not to have Obama speak there, so I know that the Pope wouldn't approve of his being at ND. The Vatican will not interfere with the local Bishop on this issue.

Andrea, graduation is a day for the STUDENTS, not you people that want to argue politics and policies. So what you and I think does not matter. The graduating classes want the President to speak. Now if YOU have a problem with that, YOU need to take it up with the students of these schools. Go to Notre Dame's website, or any South Bend news site, and you will see that the "protesters" number no more than 50 students, out of a graduating class of over 1500 graduating. Just because you disagree with what the overwhelming majority of the seniors want.....THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM !!!!!!

I understand he went to great lengths to find the right kind of typewriter so he could forge one. So this is not a valid presidency. Respect the position, absolutely. It is our duty as citizens of the United States to do this.
But respect the man and his ideas, no way. I am with Rush and a growing number of individuals that want to see him (his policies) fail. I do not support the socialistic views that he has and what it is going to do to this country. I work way too hard for my money and don't think that we should "spread the wealth". I liken it to kids in school/college. Let's use the following as an example: one student studies hard and applies themselves to the fullest and get an A or B. Another student parties, stays out late and doesn't go to class and gets a D or and F. At the end of the semester the teacher comes in and say's "I need to have this be a fair class and so I have decided to give everyone a C for the semester". Is this "fair and right".
How is this example any different than what the President and Democrats are doing today?? Hang onto your wallets; it is only going to get worse...

I strongly disagree with the President's policies and I do not take issue with him speaking at the graduation. I do, however, have a big problem with him getting an honorary degree from a school who supposedly stands for the Catholic view on life. What's done is done - he's been invited and has accepted. I am in total agreement with students are will not attend in protest. My daughter did the same thing when she graduated.

Respect is earned Annette, titles do not grant one respect. This man stands for everything that is against ND and now many students are not even going to attend their own graduation as a result of his presence. He should have respect for the students who have earned their degrees and not appear. I was surprised to see students stand for what is right in society today. They have my prayers and backing for their actions. The Obamanation is a very temporary mistake that this country will have to deal with at the moment.
