One of the Vatican's highest ranked clerics and a frequent critic of President Obama said Friday that Notre Dame is causing a "scandal" by giving the president an honorary degree and a platform to address graduates at its commencement next weekend.

Obama talks just to hear himself. The students should stage a protest the day of the speech and not sit in to listen. As far as an honorary degree... what's wrong with what he's earned? Not enough? I understand that he's the president of the United States but he should do the right thing and walk away from this one. Stem cell research, abortion...he is clearly not on the same page and it's not like he's going out to get their "vote" as "Candidate Obama." He's trying to stir the pot. The individual who invited him should be dismissed, just like the person who allowed the OVERPRICED photo-op of Air Force (2). This is the same basic principle... If we are supposed to stand on principle, what is this saying to these students and to the rest of the believers out there? Yes there's the issue of tolerance but this is not the place for politics...separation of church and state should clearly be the bigger issue here! Of course the ACLU won't come in & save the day for this.

Obama should never have been asked to speak at Notre Dameand he certainly should not get an honorary degree. But Obama won't back-off - he has the potential of getting in front of 380,000 people to spread his word - windfall for him. Despite Obama’s big draw as the “First African-American President”, he is not even descended from the Black Americans who have dwelt in our nation for centuries. Instead, Obama is the mixed-race son of an African father who abandoned him. Such a background pushed young Barack into a severe identity crisis which encouraged him to (a) seek out father figures among anti-American radicals, and (2) reject his white heritage and work hard to prove himself “black enough” to real Black Americans.

It seems unfathomable to me, that a person with a past of associations with a myriad of questionable entities and characters, of whom no one, outside of a personal circle of friends, has any inkling of a true history, could be now in the highest office of the land. Be it by chance or by design, it falls to the American public to ferret out the true political agenda of the man, so as to safeguard and preserve the integrity of the position . The very lack of information with respect to his past, should give sufficient pause, when considering his worthiness.
